Recitation 55

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
Dear Quran Lovers,
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
In the 90's, I was attached to the Yayasan Islam Terengganu. Every Thursday, they have an Islamic class. In a Fiqh/Islamic Law class, ustaz Mat Din, had narrated that the Prophet s.a.w. had put up a contest, he said to his companions r.a., if any of them could perform solat with "KHusyuu/full concentration" in a week, a prayer mat would be given to him/them. As the days of the week passed by, most of the companions r.a gave up, except for Ali bin Abi Talib r.a. was still going strong. And in the final solat, after which, the Prophet s.a.w. would declare the winner/s, while Ali was performing solat with the others following the Prophet s.a.w., a thought crept into his head, asking, "What would be the colour of the prayer mat. Would it be white, green, red, ...." After performing all zikr and wirid after the solat, the Prophet s.a.w. said to his companions to come forward to claim his/their reward for performing solat in full khusyuu. No one came forward. Ali stood up and said that he was doing well until a few moments ago, in that final solat, the thought of the colour of the prayer mat tarnished his khusyuu.
(2). After years of separation, me and my afternoon religious  class mate met. He had been my class mate for many years. The meeting was a nice and joyful one. And he talked nothing but Islam. When it was time to perform solat, I went to perform solat. He did not. When asked, he said, "I perform solat only when I feel I can perform it with khusyuu. It is useless to perform if we are not khusyuu in solat. It is a waste of time!"
I asked myself in my heart, is that what was taught by the Prophet s.a.w.?
Let us now continue recite surah 36 Yasi~n. Please refer to the text:
