This is because should they had sex with their late husbands before they die, the embryo in their wombs, if any, may develop into foetus and they can know that the baby is their late husbands'. The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said, "Truly, each and every one of you is put together in your mother's womb for 40 days in a form of a drop of spermatozoon in the egg (of the mother), then it becomes a clot of blood, an embryo after another 40 days, then it becomes a piece of flesh, foetus after another 40 days. Then after that God send His Angel to it, and its soul which was created by Allah / The God when He began to creat all things, is blown into its body. Then the Angel will write what Allah tell him to write: (i) its  livelihood, (ii) its life-span, (iii) its deed and accomplishment in life and (iv) its good or bad fortunes".
