Recitation 334

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(188) وَلَا تَأْكُلُواْ~ أَمْوَلَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِاُلْبَطِلِ وَتُدْلُواْ بِهَآ إٍلَى اُلْحُكَّامِ لِتَأْكُلُواْ فَرِيقًا مِّنْ أَمْوَلِ اُلنَّاسِ بِاُلْإِثْمِ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
وَلَا تَأْكُلُواْ~ أَمْوَلَكُم بَيْنًَكُم بِاُلْبَطِلِ = "Wa La~ Taa-ku-lu~~ Am-wa~la Kum~Bai-na Kum~Bil-Ba~ti-li",  "Wa" = And, "La~" = do not, "Taa-ku-lu~" = eat, take, grasp, "Am-wa~la" = wealth, money, property, "Kum" = your (pl.), "Bai-na" = between, among, "Kum" = you, "Bi" = by, "Ba~ti-li" = falsely, unjust means,
Wa Tudd-lu~ Bi Ha~~ I-lal-Huk-ka~mi",  "Wa" = and, "Tudd-lu~" = you (pl.) notify, "Bi" = of, "Ha" = it, "I-la~" = to, "al-Huk-ka~mi" = the arbitrator,
لِتَأْكُلُواْ فَرِيقًا مِّنْ أَمْوَلِ اُلنَّاسِ بِاُلْإِثْمِ = "Li Taa-ku-lu~ Fa-ri~qom~Min Am-wa~lin~Na~si Bil-Ith-mi",  "Li" = so that, "Taa-ku-lu~" = you (pl.) = eat, grasp, "Fa-ri~qon" = a portion, "Min" = of, "Am-wa~li" = wealth, "an~Na~si" = the mankind,  "Bi" = with, by, "al-Ith-mi" = the sin,
Wa Ant~tum Taa-la-mu~~n".  "Wa" = and, "Ant~tum" = you (pl.), "Taa-la-mu~na" =  know.
"Wa La~ Taa-ku-lu~~ Am-wa~la Kum~Bai-na Kum~Bil-Ba~ti-li Wa Tadd-lu~ Bi Ha~~ I-lal-Huk-ka~mi Li Taa-ku-lu~ Fa-ri~qom~Min Am-wa~lin~Na~si Bil-Ith-mi Wa Ant~tum Taa-la-mu~~n".  = And do not any of you (pl.) ever eat, grasp other's wealth, money among yourselves by unjust means, and (do not) notify/take and use it to (bait) the arbitrator/judge so that you can grasp a portion of other people's wealth by sinful means while you know (it is not yours).
(The Hadith from Ummu Salamah that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "I am just an ordinary man, and people who quarrelled always came to me. May be some of them were good in giving excuses or evasive statements than the others that I/Muhammad made a judgment in favour of them. Thus, those whom I have given in favour of the person/s obtained other Muslimins' right, actually obtained a piece of Hell Fire. It is up to them, whether they wanted to keep them/the wrongfully obtained wealth/the piece of Hell Fire, or to leave them.".(narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
Thus, an arbitrator or a judge may not make a correct and just judgment because he depends on what he heard and on what he saw in the evidences. Thence, Allah said, "Do not any of you ever eat, grasp other's wealth, money among yourselves by unjust means, and do not use it to bait the judge so that you can grasp a portion of other peoples' wealth by sinful means while you know that the wealth does not belong to you but it belongs to other people and you are trying to grasp it from the rightful person/s.).

"Til-ka" = That is, "Hu-du~du" = ordinance of, "Al-Lohi" = Allah, "Fa" = thence, "La~" = do not, "Taqq-ro-bu~" = you (pl.) approach, "Ha~" = it.
"Til-ka Hu-du~dul-Lohi Fa La~ Taqq-ro-bu~ Ha~".  = That is Allah's ordinance/decree, so do not ever approach it.
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اُللهُ ءَايَتِهِى لِلنَّاسِ = "Ka-dza~li-ka Yu-bai-yi-nul-Lohu A~ya~ ti Hi~ Lin~Na~si",  "Ka-dza~l-ka" = Thus, "Yu-bai-yi-nu" = he makes clear, "Al-Lohu" = Allah, "A~ya~ti" = verses, "Li" = to, "an~Na~si" = the mankind,
La-'al-la Hum Yat-ta-qu~~n".  "La-'al-la" = so that, "Hum" = they, "Yat-ta-qu~na" = they be devoted.
"Ka-dza~li-ka Yu-bai-yi-nul-Lohu A~ya~ti Hi~ Lin~Na~si La-'al-la Hum Yat-ta-qu~~n".  = Thus, Allah made clear His verses to mankind so that they will be devoted.
(The verse, "That is Allah's ordinance/decree" means that all which are explained, all which are made obligatory and determined represent matters concerning the fast and its Rules and Regulations, of what We/Allah s.w.t. permit and of what We forbid and We have also clarified their reasons why they are being permitted and why they are being prohibited, and also We have given you "Rukh-shoh"/leniency and its cause to the leniency to be observed, all these are the ordinance of Allah s.w.t.
The verse, "so do not ever approach it" means do not transgress the bound and do not violate it".
The verse, "Allah made clear His verses to mankind" means Allah s.w.t. had explain the Rules and Regulations of the fast and He s.w.t. have also explained other Laws to mankind through His s.w.t. Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
The verse, "so that they will be devoted" means that they/the mankind will be devoted to Allah s.w.t. in fidelity and abstaining from all evil deeds".).

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite verse 187 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(187) وَلَا تُبَشِرُوهُنَّ وَأَنتُمْ عَكٍفُونَ فِى اُلْمَسَجِدِ = "Wa La~ Tu-ba~syi-ru~ Hun~na Wa Ant~tum 'A~ki-fu~na Fil-Ma-sa~jidd".  "Wa" = And, "La~" = do not, "Tu-ba~syi-ru~" = you (pl.) have sex with, "Hun~na" = them (f. pl.), "Wa" = and, while, "Ant~tum" = you (pl.), " 'A~ki-fu~na" = isolate yourselves, "Fi~" = in, "al-Ma-sa~ji-di" = the mosque.
"Wa La~ Tu-ba~syi-ru~ Hun~na Wa Ant~tum 'A~ki-fu~na Fil-Ma-sa~jidd".  = But do not have sex with them/your wives while you are in " 'Ii-ti-kaf"/sitting quietly and practising religious exercises/reciting the Quran, dzikir, and so forth in the mosque.
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
(The Prophet s.a.w. had defined what "al-Fajrr"/dawn is. Imam Ahmad narrated from Qois ibnu Tolaq, from his father/Tolaq that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Dawn is not the longitude of the horizon, but is the transverse red beams/rays of light.
This verse, "but do not have sex with your wives while you are in "Iitikaf" in the mosque", Ali ibnu Tolib narrated from Ibnu Abbas that this verse was revealed about those who "Iitikaf"/seclude themselves in the mosque for religious exercises, either during the fasting month or during other months, they are forbidden to have sex with their wives during the day or during the night in the mosque or at home.
It is a Sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w. to be in "Iitikaf" during the final ten days of the Ramahan until he s.a.w. passed away. After his s.a.w. demise, his s.a.w. widows practised Iitikaf, as told by Aisyah r.a. narrated by Bukhori and Muslim.).

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite verse 187, surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
"Wa" = And, "Ku-lu~" = you (pl.) eat, "Wa" = and, "isy-ro-bu~" = you (pl.) drink, "Hat-ta~" = until, "Ya-ta-bai-ya-na" = it becomes clear, plain, "La" = to, "Ku-mu" = you (pl.), "al-KHoi-tu" = the thread, string, "al-Abb-ya-dhu" = the white, "Mi-na" = from, "al-KHoi-ti" = the threat, "al-As-wa-di" = the black, "Mi-na" = of, "al-Fajj-ri" = the dawn.
"Wa Ku-lu~ Wasy-ro-bu~ Hat-ta~ Ya-ta-bai-ya-na La Ku-mul-KHoi-tul-Abb-ya-dhu Mi-nal-KHoi-til-As-wa-di Mi-nal-Fajrr".  = (You may now have sex with your wives,) and eat and drink until it is plain and clear to you (pl.) the white thread/day from the black thread/night of the dawn.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
"THum~ma" = Then, "A-tim~mu~" = you (pl.) execute and complete, "ash-SHi-ya~ma" = the fast, "I-la~" = to, until, "al-Lai-li" = the night, sunset.
"THum~ma A-tim~mush-SHi-ya~ma I-lal-Lai~l".  = Then execute and complete the fast until the night/sunset.
ج = the Waqof Jaiz sign.
(In the beginning, the Muslimin fast from dawn till sunset. They broke fast and ate, drank and had sex untill the time for 'Isyaa or they fell asleep. Then they fast through out the night and the next day.
An Anshorian, named Qois ibnu Sharimah al-Anshori had worked while fasting in his farm for the whole day. When the time for breaking fast he went to his wife and asked if she had prepared some food for him. She replied, "No. But I am going now in search for food". While waiting for the food to come, Qois fell asleep. When the wife returned with food, seeing that Qois was sleeping, said, "What a pity. Why do you sleep?". The next morning, Qois went to work in his farm without eating any food since the early night before. In the afternoon, he fell unconscious. When he regained concsiousness, the Prophet s.a.w. came to see him, as soon as he s.a.w. heard that Qois fell unconscious in his farm. The Prophet s.a.w. asked him what had happened to him. Qois told the Prophet s.a.w. that he did not eat that night because he fell asleep while waiting for food. The Prophet s.a.w. felt very sad. Then Allah revealed this verse: "And eat and drink until it is plain and clear to you the white thread from the black thread of the dawn. Then execute and complete your fast until the night/sunset". This verse had brought joy and had made many people happy.
Imam Ahmad narrated from asy-Syaabi, from 'Adli ibnu Hatim who said, "When the verse, "And eat and drink until it is plain and clear to you the white thread from the black thread of the dawn" was revealed, I purposely took a white string and a black string, then I placed them under my pillow. Then I looked at them, and when I could see clearly the white string from the black string (in the darkness of the night), I refrained myself (from eating, drinking and having sex). The next morning I went to the Prophet s.a.w. and told him s.a.w. of what I did. He s.a.w. said, "Then, your pillow must be very wide. Really, what it  meant was the brightness of the day and the darkness of the night". (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).  What the Prophet s.a.w. meant by, "your pillow must be very wide" was that if the white string and the black string mentioned in the verse which refered to the brightness of the day and the darkness of the night, then 'Adli's pillow was as wide as the East and the West.
We, the Muslimin are required to eat "Sah-hur"/last meal before dawn and it is Sunnah to do so. The Hadith from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Do eat Sahhur, because there is a Barakah/blessing in it". (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
From 'Amr ibnu al-'Ash that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Truly, the difference between our fast and the fast of the People of the Scriptures is having Sahhur". (narrated by Muslim).
From Anas bin Malik, from Zaid bin Thabit who said, "We had Sahhur with the Prophet s.a.w. Then we performed Solat (Shubuh)". Anas then asked Zaid, "How long was it between the Adzan and the Sahhur?". Zaid replied, "About (reciting) fifty verses". [If we were to look at today's Muslim calender, the time after Sahhur is called "Imsak"/cessation (from eating, drinking and having sex) and it is 10 minutes before Adzan Shubuh).
(to be continued).

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite verse 187 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(187) عَلِمَ اُللهُ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَخْتَانُونَ أَنفُسَكُمْ = " 'A-li-mal-Lohu An~na Kum Kunt~Tum Takh-ta~nu~na Anf~fu-sa Kum",   " 'A-li-ma" = to know, "Al-Lohu" = Allah, "An~na" = that, "Kum" = you (pl.), "Kun" = to be , "Tum" = you (pl.), "Takh-ta~nu~na" = you betray, "Anf~fu-sa" = selves, "Kum" = your,
فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَفَا عَنكُمْ = "Fa Ta~ba 'A-lai Kum Wa 'A-fa~ 'Ank~Kum".   "Fa" = then, "Ta~ba" = to forgive. " 'A-lai" = upon, "Kum" = you, "Wa" = and, " 'A-fa~" = to pardon, " 'An" = on, "Kum" = you.
" 'A-li-mal-Lohu An~na Kum Kunt~Tum Takh-ta~nu~na Anf~fu-sa Kum Fa Ta~ba 'A-lai Kum Wa 'A-fa~ 'Ank~Kum".  = Allah knew that you (pl.) have betrayed yourselve/could not withstand your sexual desires, thus Allah have forgiven you and have pardoned you (for your wrong).
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
Fal-A~na Ba~syi-ru~ Hun~na",  "Fa" = Then, "al-'A~na" = now, "Ba~syi-ru~" = have sex with, "Hun~na" = them (f.),
"Wa" = and, "ibb-ta-ghu~" = you (pl.) seek, "Ma~" = what, "Ka-ta-ba" = decree, "Al-Lohu" = Allah, "La" = on, "Kum" = you.
"Fal-A~na Ba~syi-ru~ Hun~na Wabb-ta-ghu~ Ma~ Ka-ta-bal-Lohu La Kum".  = Then, you may now have sex with them, and do seek what Allah have decree on you (pl.).
(At first, the Muslimin broke their fast, eating, drinking and having sex with their wives between sunset and the time for 'Isyaa prayers or when they fell asleep. But there were Muslimin, who after performing 'Isyaa in the mosque, when they went home, they saw their topless bodies of their wives and smelled their body scent, (before the modernized Arabia in the 80's, there was no air condition and the weather was very hot. At home, women, young and old were topless) they could not refrain their desires and then had sex with their wives. After which, they felt remorse for breaking the Law. On the next day, one man went to the Prophet s.a.w. and told him s.a.w. what he had done last night. Then many men stood up and confessed and asked the Prophet s.a.w. to entreat for them to be forgiven. The Prophet s.a.w. replied that he s.a.w. was in no position to do that. Then, Allah revealed this verse 187: "Allah knew that you could not withstand your sexual desires, thus Allah have forgiven you and have pardoned you. Then you may now have sex with them/you wives, and seek what/offspring Allah had decree/determined for you).
(to be continued).

(This verse is revealed to explain to the Muslimin the Rule and Regulation of Fast.
When verse 185 was revealed, the Muslimin fast during the day and broke fast at sunset. Then they were allowed to eat and drink and have sex with their spouses until the time for Isyaa prayers or when he/she fell asleep. When the time for Isyaa had come or they slept, then they are not allowed to eat nor to drink nor to have sex until the next sunset.
The verse: "They are your raiment and you are their raiment"", Ibnu Abbas said, "They/the wives give comfort to you and you give comfort to them".
Rabii ibnu Anas said, "They are your blanket and you are their blanket". A blanket means to cover, to envelop, to hide and to conceal one's lustful desire. A husband and a wife act as a concealment or a prevention for each other from doing evil deeds such as having illegal sex and so forth).

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(186) وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ صلى أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ اُلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ صلى فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُواْ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُواْ بِى لَعلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ = "Wa I-dza~ Sa-a-la Ka 'I-ba~di~ 'An~ni~ Fa In~ni~ Qo-ri~~bb".  "Wa" = And, "I-dza~" = when, "Sa-a-la" = ask, "Ka" = you are, " 'I-ba~di~" = My bondservants, " 'An~ni~" = about Me, "Fa"  then, "In~ni~" = really I am, "Qo-ri~bun" = near.

صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ اُلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ = "U-ji~bu Daa-wa-tad-Da~'i I-dza~ Da-'a~~n".  "U-ji~bu" = I answer, respond, "Daa-wa-ta" = call, appeal, "ad-Da~'i" = the caller, suppliant, "I-dza~" = when, "Da-'a~ni" = they call, appeal.

(Imam Ahmad  narrated from Abu Musa al-Asy'ari that when he/Abu Musa, and the Prophet s.a.w. and his companions were in a battle, they were shouting Takbir/Allohu Akbar each time they ascended a slope, and when climbing up a hill, and when descending a valley."The Prophet s.a.w. came to us and said, "O mankind! Have pity on yourselves, surely you are not praying to the Being who is deaf and is far away. But you are praying to the Lord who is all-Hearing and all-Observing. Really, He to whom all of you are calling loudly is nearer to all of you than between you and your rides. O Abdullah ibnu Qois, would you like me to teach you a verse which is from the treasure of the Paradise? It is "La~ Haw-la Wa La~ Quw-wa-ta Il-la~ Bil-Lah". = (There is neither might nor power but in Allah).". (It is also narrated by Bukhori and Muslim but was reported from Abu 'Uthman an-Nahdi).
Imam Malik narrated from Abu Haroiroh that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "(Allah) will answer prayer made by any of you as long as you do not ask for it to be sped up, that is by saying, "I have entreat, but it is still not being answered".
From Abu Huroiroh, narrated by Muslim that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "A prayer by a person is always been answered as long as he/she does not pray for sinful things, or to break/sever a bond of uterine friendship and ask for it to be answered quickly." (A man asked the Prophet s.a.w., "What is meant by asking it to be answered quickly?", the Prophet s.a.w. replied,) "That is, he/she says, "I have prayed and prayed, but it was not answered", and he/she was tired of praying.".
From Abu Huroiroh, that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "The Doa/prayer of these persons will never be unanswered, they are (i) a just, honest, trustworthy, impartial leader/ruler/controller/administrator/director/power authority, (ii) a person who is during his/her fast until he/she breaks the fast, and (iii) a person who is being "Zholim"/wronged/treated with injustice, cruelty. The Doa/prayer of any of these three kinds of people will be brought up without being hindered by thick black clouds on the Judgment Day and the doors of the heavens will be opened for them, and Allah will say, "By My Glory, I will help you even for a moment".(narrated by Ahmad, At-Tirmidzi, An-Nasai and Ibnu Majah).).

Recitation 331.3

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to look into the explanation of verse 185, surah 2 Al-Baqoroh:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(185) "... and that you should magnify Allah for He s.w.t. have guided you" means all of us, Muslimin, are to remember Allah and to magnify Him s.w.t. Thence, it is the Sunnah of our Prophet s.a.w. whenever after Solat is performed, we are to recite "Tasbih"/glorify Allah, to "Tahmid"/praise and thank Him, to "Takbir"/magnify Him. Ibnu 'Abbas said, "We did not know when the Prophet s.a.w. had completed his s.a.w. Solat except when we heard him s.a.w. recited the Takbir.".
From this verse: "And you should complete the period (of fasting, 29 or 30 days) and that you should magnify Allah for He have guided you (in completing the period of fast)", plenty of the Ulama took it as a decree on the "Takbir"/Allo~hu Akbar, Allo~hu Akbar, Allo~hu Akbar, Allo~hu Akbar, La~~ Ila~ha Il-lal-Lohu Wal-Lohu Akbar, Allo~hu Akbar Wa Lil-Lahil- Hamd", on the night and in the morning of the 'I~dul-Fitr/Feast of breaking Ramadan fast.
Daud ibnu Ali al-Asbahani az-Zhohiri said it is Wajib as he based it on this verse, while Hanafiah said it is not a decree but to recite it softly, while others said it is a Sunnah.
And the verse: "so that you (pl.) will be thankful" means that when we, the Muslimin, have performed an obligation which is commanded by Allah s.w.t. upon us, that is which we are to perform and which we are to forsake, then it is hoped that we are being included among those who are thankful to Allah.).

Recitation 331.2.

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to look into the explanation of verse 185 of surah Al-Baqoroh:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(185) "Allah desire comfort and ease for you and do not desire difficulty and hardship for you" means Allah allow us to break fast when we are sick or on a journey. For those of us who are at home and are healthy, we must fast. Fasting is an ease and a "Rahmat"/ blessing to us.
There are some examples about the ease for those who are on a journey. Bukhori and Muslim have narrated in their books that the Prophet s.a.w. had gone out to do battle to liberate Mecca during a fasting month. When he s.a.w. and his men r.a. walked and arrived at al-Kadid, he s.a.w. broke fast and asked his s.a.w. men r.a. to break fast too. And in another incident, as told by Abu Saiid al-Khudri that he and others had followed the Prophet s.a.w. went on a journey during the month of Ramadan. Some of them were fasting and some did not. Those who fast did not condemn those who did not fast nor those who did not fast condemned those who fast. It was optional.
About "Qodhoo"/making up the fast, there are 2 opinions of the Ulama, (i) It must be continuously because Qodhoo is to fulfil the obligation to fast, (ii) it may be done on alternate days.
Allah is always desiring comfort and ease for mankind and is not desiring difficulty and hardship for us. It is mankind who love to make thing difficult and hard for others to practise. A Hadith from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Make thing easier and do not make thing difficult. Be calm and do not make (people) run away". (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
As narrated by Bukhori and Muslim that when the Prophet s.a.w. sent Mu'adz and Abu Musa to Yemen, the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Convey to the Yemen people of good tidings and do not instil  fear in their hearts. Give them ease and make thing simple for them and do not make thing difficult for them. And the two of you must get along well together and do oppose each other".
And it is mentioned in the Sunan and the Musnad that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "I am sent to bring about a religion of monotheism/ Oneness of God that is warm and sincere".
"You should magnify Allah for He have guided you" (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.

Dear Quran Lovers,
I wish to apologize for not appearing for two days because on the day before I was ill and felt tired, and yesterday, it was raining with thunders. While waiting for the thunder to subside, I fell asleep for hours. Sorry about that.
Let us now continue to look into the explanation of verse 185 of surah Al-Baqoroh:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
"Thus, whosoever is present in his/her country, in that month/ Ramadan, let him/her fast in that month", means it is a duty to a Muslim/at to make sure that the month of Ramadan has begun in his/her country where he/she lives, (this is usually done by the local Islamic Authority) and this does not apply to a person who is on a journey. When the new moon of the month of Ramadan is sighted, he/she is physically fit, then he/she must fast. Those who do not fast due to sickness or are on a journey in that month, they must "Qodhoo"/make up the fast on other days, or those who are old or are pregnant or are suckling their babies and fear for their and their babaies' safety, then they must redeem/ "Fidyah" by feeding poor people each day that they do not fast. (If we are unable to know or to find a poor person, it is wise to hand the money for the daily food to the nearest mosque or the local Islamic Authority and tell them that that money is Fidyah money. And they will know what to do with the money).
"Allah desire all the comfort and ease for you and do not desire difficulty or hardship for you" means (to be continued).
I am to go for my second round treatment. Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.

(Allah s.w.t. have glorified the fasting month among other eleven months by choosing it as a month in which the Quran was sent down from the "Al-Lau-hu al-Mah-fuz"/the Preserved Tablet in the seventh heaven to the "Baitu al-'Iz-zah" in the lowest heaven (the heavern above the earth). He s.w.t. had also sent down/revealed all other Scriptures in the month of Ramadan. Imam Ahmad had narrated from Washilah ibnu Al-Asqoo that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Abraham's "Shuhuf"/ Journals were sent down/revealed to him/Abraham on the first evening of Ramadan, the Torah was revealed on the 6th of Ramadan, the Gospel was revealed on the 13th of Ramadan, and the Quran was revealed on the 24th of Ramadan.". (narrated by Imam Ahmad).
Abraham's a.s SHuhuf, the Scriptures of Torah, Psalm/"Zabur" and the Gospel were revealed to each of their respective Prophets simultaneously, but the Quran was sent down from the Lauh Mahfuz to the Baitul 'Izzah simultaneously on the "Lailatul-Qodar, as is mentioned in surah 97 Al-Qoddr, verse 1, and in surah 44 Ad-Duhkon verse 3. Then the verses and the short surah of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet s.a.w. in one part after another corresponding to the event that happened during the Prophet's time.
Allah told us that the Quran is a guidance for mankind's hearts which believe or have Faith and which acknowlege It and obey It.
The Quran is also the evidence and It shows and differentiates the right and the wrong, the "Halal"/lawful and the "Haram"/unlawful.
Thus, who is present in his/her own country in that month, he/she must fast ... (to be continued).

Recitation 330.1

Dear Quran Lovers,
In the last night local news, it was reported that a place in San Diago, U.S.A., there was/is a fire. Let us all lend it a hand by reciting surah Yasi~n and Its Doa that the fire be extinguished quickly. Thank you.

Let us now look into the meaning and the explanation of verse 184, surah 2 Al-Baqoroh.
"Ai-ya~mam~Maa-du~da~~t".  = (That is) Fast a certain number of days.
"Fa Mank~Ka~na Mink~Kum ~Ma-ri~dhon Aw 'A-la~ Sa-fa-rinf~Fa 'Id-da-tum~Min Ai-ya~min U-khorr".  = Then if any of you are sick or on a journey (and you break the fast), then (you are obligated to fast) the same number of days that you did not fast, on other days.
"Wa 'A-lal-La-dzi~na Yu-ti~qu~na Hu~ Fid-ya-tunt~To-'a~mu Mis-ki~~n".  = And he/she  who feels that fasting is a burden to him/her and he/she does not fast, but is capable, there is a redemption (that is) the feeding of a poor person. Whosoever does charity/good voluntarily/of his/her own accord, then it is better for him/her.
"Wa Ant~Ta-shu~mu~ KHoi-rul-La Kum",  = And that if you fast is better for you,
"Ink~Kunt~Tum Taa-la-mu~~n".  = if you only knew.
(Fasting is observed during day time from dawn till dusk for 29 or 30 days in the month of Ramadan, the 9th month of year of Hijrah. Those who are sick or are on a journey may not fast as it may be a burden to them. They may not fast but they must settle/make up for it on other days  within the next months before Ramadan of the next year.
Healthy people or those who are not on a journey but feel that it is a burden to them to fast, for them there two choices: (i) fast, or (ii) feed a poor person each day they do not fast. This happened to Anas r.a. when he was old and did not fast for a year or two, and he fed a poor man with bread and meat every day. Bukhori narrated from Aiyub ibnu Abu Tamimah, "Anas was unable to fast, then he prepared a large bowl of bread porridge and invited thirty poor people and fed them.".
This opportunity/relieve is also for women who are pregnant and those who suckle/breast-feed their babies. If these women fear of their safety and of their babies', they may not fast. There are two opinions of the Ulama about their redemption, (i) The women may not fast, but they must feed poor people and must also "Qo-dho"/make up the fast, (ii) They need not fast but must feed poor people and need not "Qodho"/make up the fast.
And that if we fast, it is better for us than feeding the poor, if only we knew the goodness of the fast.
(185) (to be continued).

(Allah has decreed fasting for us, the Believers. Fasting means to abstain oneself from eating, drinking, having sexual intercourse and with the intention on performing it because of Allah. By fasting, one cleanses and purifies one's self and one's bad and evil habits, and curbs the path of the Satan in one's body. Fasting was also being decreed upon the Believers of the past. When we, the Believers perform fasting, we shall be devoted to Allah in fidelity and in abstaining from all evil deeds. Fasting is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.).
