بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, synopsis of Islam. Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(227) وَإِنْ عَزَمُواْ اُلطَّلَقَ فَإِنَّ اُللهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
وَإِنْ عَزَمُواْ اُلطَّلَقَ = "Wa In 'A-za-mut-To-la~qo",  = "Wa" = And, But, "In" = if, " 'A-za-mu~" = they be determined, "at-To-la~qo" = the divorce,
فَإِنَّ اُللهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ = "Fa In~nal-Loha Sa-mi~'un 'A-li~~m".  = "Fa" = then, "In~na" = truly, "Al-Loha" = Allah is, "Sa-mi~'un" =  all-Hearing, " 'A-li~mun" = Omniscient.
"Wa In 'A-za-mut-To-la~qo Fa In~nal-Loha Sa-mi~'un 'A-li~~m". = But if they are determined to divorce, truly Allah is all-Hearing, Omniscient.
(This verse means that only when the husband divorces his wife, then she is divorced but not by the lapsed of the four months period as mentioned in the previous verse.
Ibnu Jarir narrated from Abi Sholih who said, "I had asked twelve Shohabat/companions of the Prophet s.a.w. about a man who "Ilaa"/sworn to abstain from having sex with his wife, they r.a. all said that it is not obligated to wait for four months to pass by, if he so wishes, he can return to his wife, if not, he may divorce the wife".
About the four months wait, Imam Malik ibnu Anas rh.a. had written in his book, al-Muwattoo, from Abdullah ibnu Dinar who said, ""Umar ibnu Al-Khottob r.a. had gone out for a walk one night and heard a lady was reciting, "This night is so long and dark and I cannot sleep because I have no lover to flirt with me! By Allah, if it were not for Allah is watching me, this bed will now be rocking!".
When he r.a. went home, he r.a. asked his sister, Hafsah r.a., "How long can a woman wait patiently for her husband?" Hafsah r.a. replied, "Six or four months". Then 'Umar r.a. said, "I will not hold a soldier (in the battle field) for more that that/four - six months".
Allah s.w.t. Hear what were said by the husband and Know what was/is in his heart.).
(228) (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
