يَسْئَلُونَك عَنِ اُلْخَمْرِ وَاُلْمَيْسِرِ = "Yas-a-lu~na Ka 'A-nil-KHom-ri Wal-Mai-sir".  = "Yas-a-lu~na" = They ask, "Ka" = you, " 'A-ni" = about, "al-KHom-ri" = the wine/alcoholic beverages/liquor, "Wa" = and, "al-Mai-si-ri" = the gambling/games of chance.
"Yas-a-lu~na Ka 'A-nil-KHom-ri Wal-Mai-sir". = They asked you (O Muhammad) about the wine/alcoholic beverages/liquor and the gambling/games of chance.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
قُلْ فِيهِمَآ إِثْمٌ كَبِيرٌ وَمَنَفِعُ لِلنَّاسِ = "Qul Fi~ Hi-ma~~ Ith-munk~Ka-bi~ruw~Wa Ma-na~fi-'u Lin~Na~si", = "Qul" = Say, "Fi~" = in, "Hi-ma~" = both of them are, "Ith-mun" = sin, "Ka-bi~run" = big, great, "Wa" = and, "Ma-na~fi-'u" = beneficial use, "Li" = to, "an~Na~si" = the Mankind,
وَإِثْمُهُمَآ أَكْبَرُ مِن نَّفْعِهِمَا = "Wa Ith-mu Hu-ma~~ Ak-ba-ru Min~Naf-'i Hi-ma~" =  "Wa" = but, "Ith-mu" = sin of, "Hu-ma~" = both of them, "Ak-ba-ru" = is greater, "Min" = than, "Naf-'i" = beneficial use, "Hi-ma~" = their both.
"Qul Fi~ Hi-ma~~ Ith-munk~Ka-bi~ruw~Wa Ma-na~fi-'u Lin~Na~si Wa Ith-mu Hu-ma~~ Ak-ba-ru Min~Naf-'i Hi-ma~". = Say! "In both of them are great sin and some benecial use to Mankind, but both of their sins are far more greater than their beneficial use.".
(Imam Ahmad narrated that 'Umar ibnu Al-Khottob r.a. said that when the verse prohibiting alcoholic liquor was revealed, he, 'Umar r.a. entreated a Doa, "O Allah! Explain clearly to us about alcoholic liquor". And Allah s.w.t. revealed this verse, 219 of 2nd surah that alcoholic liquor is a great sin. Then 'Umar r.a. was called and was recited this verse to him r.a.. He r.a. entreated again, "O Allah! Explain to us clearly about alcoholic liquor". Allah s.w.t. revealed verse 43, surah 4 An-Nisaa, "O Believers! Do not approach your Solat when you are intoxicated/drunk.". Then 'Umar r.a. was called and was recited that verse to him. He r.a. again entreated the same Doa. And Allah s.a.w. revealed, verse 91, surah 5 Al-Ma~idah, "Satan seeks to stir up enmity and hatred among you by means of wine/alcoholic beverages/liquor and (by) gambling/games of chance to keep you away from remembrance of Allah and from Solat. Thus, will you not abstain (from them)?".  Then 'Umar r.a. said, "We will abstain! We will abstain, as they will cause lost of wealth/ money and lost of senses/mind ".
The verse, "Say, in both of them are great sins and some beneficial use to Mankind" means drinking alcoholic liquor and gambling/ games of chance are great sin, and this is concerning religious matter, while their beneficial use concerns worldly matter, that is, liquor will benefit the body, helps with the digestion of food, in excretion of waste matter in the body, to sharpen some part of the brain, its brings joy and delight, as quoted by Hasan ibnu Thabit when he was before embracing Islam, "We drank it until we felt like a king and like a lion. *  The meet (between the feeling of a king and the feeling of a lion) did not stop us (from drinking)".
It/the liquor also brings in income by selling it, so does gambling, it brings in money for the family. But their benefit does not over ride the sufferings and the damages and the harms caused by them/the  liquor and the gambling because they concern the mind and the religion. We will lose our senses/minds and we will also commit great sin against Allah s.w.t.).
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
(to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
