بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite verse 219 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh. Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(219) وَيَسْئَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفٍقُونَ قُلِ اُلْعَفْوَ = "Wa Yas-a-lu~na Ka Ma~dza~ Yunf~fi-qu~na Qu-lil-'Afw".  = "Wa" = And, "Yas-a-lu~na" = they ask, "Ka" = you, "Ma~dza~" = what is, "Yunf~fi-qu~na" = to provide for support, "Qu-li" = say, "al-'Af-wa" = the surplus.
"Wa Yas-a-lu~na Ka Ma~dza~ Yunf~fi-qu~na Qu-lil-'Afw". = And they asked you (O Muhammad) what should they provide for support? Say (O Muhammad), "The surplus of your daily needs (for you and your family).
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اُللهُ لَكُمُ اُلْأَيَتِ = "Ka-dza~li-ka Yu-bai-yi-nul-Lohu La Ku-mul-A~ya~ti", = "Ka-dza~li-ka" = Such, "Yu-bai-yi-nu" = He made plain, "Al-Lohu" = Allah, "La" = for, "Kum" = you (pl.), "al-A~ya~ti" = the signs/explanations,
لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ = "La-'al-la Kum Ta-ta-fak-ka-ru~~n".  = "La-'al-la" = so that, "Kum" = you (pl.), "Ta-ta-fak-ka-ru~na" = you give thought.
"Ka-dza~li-ka Yu-bai-yi-nul-Lohu La Ku-mul-A~ya~ti La-'al-la Kum Ta-ta-fak-ka-ru~~n".  = Such is what Allah had made plain His explanation to you (pl.), so that you may give thought.
(Abi Hatim told his children that Mu'adz bin Jabal and Thaa-labah had gone to the Prophet s.a.w. and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have some young slaves and relatives, how are we to provide our wealth?". Thus, Allah s.w.t. revealed this verse, "And they asked you what should they provide for support (their slaves and relatives), say (O Muhammad), "The surplus of your daily need (for yourself and your family's).
Al-Hasan narrated from Abd ibnu Humaid in his explanation, said that we should not give away all of our wealth for charity, then we sit and beg people for money".
A Hadith reported by Ibnu Jarr from Abu Huroiroh r.a. who said, "A man said to the Prophet s.a.w., "O Messenger of Allah, I have One Dinar". The Prophet s.a.w. said, " Provide it for yourself".  The man again said, "I still have another Dinar". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Provide it for your relatives". The man again said, "And I still have another Dina". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Then provide it for you children". The man said, "And I still have another Dinar". The Prophet s.a.w. replied, "Then you know better (to whom you should provide)".  (This Hadith is also narrated by Imam Muslim).
The verse, "Such is what Allah had made plain His explanation to you so that you may give thought" means that Allah s.w.t. had provided us with His explanations in details, His s.w.t. Rules and Regulations, and His s.w.t. promise, and His s.w.t. warning that we, Muslimin may give thought about them and about what will happen to us in this world and in the Hereafter. But we all must give the life in the Hereafter preference over the life in this world which is just a place for stop in and a testing place for all of us.).
(220) (to be continued).
                                  ***********
Let us look into a lengthy Hadith reported by Abu Damroh, (I have abridged it), "A messenger from Rabi'ah tribe came to the Prophet s.a.w. asking for a clear Commandment that he could bring home to his people so that they would enter the Paradise. The Prophet s.a.w. asked them to perform Four things, (i) To believe/have Faith in Allah the One and Only God. The Prophet s.a.w. asked them: "Do you  know what is having Faith in One and Only God?" They replied, "Only Allah and His Messenger knew". The Prophet s.a.w. explained that: "they must believe and acknowledge that there is no other God (to be worshipped) than Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah". Then the Prophet s.a.w. asked them "to perform Solat (Five times in a day and a night), and to pay the Zakat/ poor-dues, and to fast during the month of Ramadan, and to give One-fifth of the spoils of war. The Prophet s.a.w. also forbad them from killing, consuming alcoholic liquor, and preparing/ making alcoholic liquor". (narrated by Bukhori).
