Recitation 217

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(67) وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِهِى~إِنَّ اُللهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُواْ بَقَرَةً صلى قَالُواْ~ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا صلى قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاُللهِ أَن أَكُونَ مِنَ اُلْجَهِلِينَ
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِهِى~إِنَّ اُللهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ = "Wa Idz Qo~la Mu~sa~ Li Qow-mi Hi~~ In~nal-Loha Yaa-mu-ru Kum",  "Wa Idz" = And when, "Qo~la" = said, "Mu~sa~" = Moses, "Li" = to, "Qow-mi" = people, "Hi~" = his, "In~na" = that, Al-Loha" = Allah, "Yaa-mu-ru" = ordered, bid, "Kum" = all of you,
أَن تَذْبَحُواْ بَقَرَةً = "Ant~Tadz-ba-hu~  Ba-qo-roh".  "An" = that, "Tadz-ba-hu~" = you to slaughter, "Ba-qo-ro-tan" = a cow.
"Wa Idz Qo~la Mu~sa~ Li Qow-mi Hi~~ In~nal-Loha Yaa-mu-ru Kum Ant~Tadz-ba-hu~ Ba-qo-roh" = And (remember) when Moses said to his people, "That Allah/Yahweh bid you to slaughter a cow". 
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
قَالُواْ~أَتَتَّخِذُُنَا هُزُوًا = "Qo~lu~~ A Tat-ta-khi-dzu Na~ Hu-zu-wa~". "Qo~lu~" They say, "A" = are, "Tat-ta-khi-dzu" = make, "Na~" = us, "Hu-zu-wan" = a laughing stock.
"Qo~lu~~ A Tat-ta-khi-dzu Na~ Hu-zu-wa~" = They said, "Are you making a laughing stock of us?".
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاُللهِ أَنْ اَكُونَ مِنَ اُلْجَهِلِينَ = "Qo~la A 'U~dzu Bil-Lahi An A Ku~na Mi-nal-Ja~hi-li~~n".  "Qo~la" = He said, "A 'U~dzu" = I seek refuge, "Bi" = with, in, "Al-Lahi" = Allah, "An" = that, "A Ku~na" = I be, "Mi-na" = from, "al-Ja~hi-li~na" = the ignorant.
"Qo~la A 'U~dzu Bil-Lahi An A Ku~na Mi-nal-Ja~-hi-li~~n". = He/Moses said, " I seek refuge in Allah that I should be an ignorant person". 
(During Prophet Moses's a.s time, there was a poor Jew who had a rich cousin. And he was waiting for his cousin to die so that he could inherit the rich man's wealth because he was the rich man's only heir. But the rich man just would not die.Thence, the poor Jew killed his rich cousin, and threw the dead body into the border of the other village. After that, he went to Prophet Moses a.s accusing the people in that village had killed his cousin. But those people denied the accusation which gave rise to complication to Prophet Moses a.s. So, he entreat for Allah's help. And Allah told Prophet Moses a.s. to slaughter a cow. When he a.s. told his people to slaughter a cow so that they could know who was the killer, they accused him a.s. as making fun of them.).

Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
  (2) Solat: (B) The Sunnah/optional In A Solat:
  (xvi) The Ritual Of Sitting Down To Recite The Final Tasyahhud: 
  When sit down for the final Tasyahhud these Sunnah should be observed:
 (a) Both hands should be placed as follows:
   (i) From Ibnu 'Umar r.a. who said, "When the Prophet s.a.w. sat down to recite the Tasyahhud, he placed his left hand on his left thigh, and his right hand on his right knee and made a 53 knot (with his fingers)/clenching his fingers with his index finger pointing (towards the Qiblat)". In another report, "he s.a.w. clench all of his fingers and pointing with his index finger." (narrated by Muslim).
   (ii) From Wail ibnu Hajar, "That the Prophet s.a.w. placed his left palm on his left thigh, the right (palm) on his right (thigh), then he clench his fingers until they were like a coil."
In another narration, "he s.a.w. clench his middle finger (and the other two fingers) and his thumb, and pointing with his index finger. Then he s.a.w. lifted a (the index) finger , then he moved it and used it for Doa.". (narrated by Ahmad).
Baihaqi said, "By moving the finger, may be it means to point, and it does not mean to moving it to and fro several times, thus, it is in agreeable to the Hadith from Ibnu Zubeir, "That the Prophet s.a.w. when he entreat a doa (while sitting reciting Tasyahhud), he s.a.w. used his finger in making a signal and did not move it to and fro.". (narrated by Abu Daud with authentic isnad).
