ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(63) وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ اُلطُّورَخُذُواْمَآ ءَاتَيْنَكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَاُذْكُرُواْ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَقَكُمْ = "Wa Idz A-khodz Na~ Mi~tha~qo Kum",  "Wa Idz" = And when, "A-khodz" = obtained, "Na~" = We, "Mi~tha~qo" = covenant, a formal agreement with, "Kum" = all of you,
وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ اُلطُّورَ = "Wa Ro-faa Na~ Faw-qo Ku-mut-Tu~ro", "Wa Ro-faa" = and lifted, "Na~" = We, "Faw-qo" = above, "Ku-mu" = all of you, "at-Tu~ro" = the mountain,
خُذُواْ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَاُذْكُرُواْ = "KHu-dzu~ Ma~~ A~tai Na~ Kum~Bi Quw-wa-tiw~Wadz-ku-ru~" = "KHu-dzu~" = all of you take, "Ma~" = what, "A~tai" = give, "Na~" = We, "Kum" = all of you, "Bi" = with, "Quw-wa-tin" = earnest, "Wa" = and, "udz-ku-ru~" = remember,
مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ = "Ma~ Fi~ Hi La-'al-la Kum Tat-ta-qu~~n".  "Ma~" = what, "Fi~ Hi" = in it, "La-'al-la" = perhaps, so that, "kum" = all of you, "Tat-ta-qu~na". = fear.
"Wa Idz A-khodz Na~ Mi~tha~qo Kum Wa Ro-faa Na~ Faw-qo Ku-mut-Tu~ro KHu-dzu~ Ma~~ A~tai Na Kum~Bi Quw-wa-tiw~Wadz-ku-ru~ Ma~ Fi~ Hi La-'al-la Kum Tat-ta-qu~~n". = And (remember) when We/Allah obtained a covenant/agreement with all of you (O Children of Israel) and We had lifted the mountain above all of you (saying,) "Take/perform that which We/Allah gave/ commanded all of you earnestly. And remember what is in It/the Torah, so that you all be fearful.".
(Allah informs us about the Children of Israel who had previuosly made an agreement with Allah that they would accept and believe in Muhammad s.a.w. as the last and the final Messenger of Allah and would give support to him, but they, the later generation during the Prophet Muhammad's s.a.w. time, had dishonoured it by denying Muhammad s.a.w. as the last and the final Messenger of Allah. Then Allah uprooted a mountain in Palestine and lifted it above their heads and said, "Take/Perform those that I have commanded all of you in the Torah earnestly, if not, I shall drop this mountain on all of you.".  Seeing that they were in great trouble, they then became fearful and instantly fell on their hands and knees, prostrating and promised to obey Allah's commandments. It was narrated that those Children of Israel were prostrating with their one cheek placed on the ground while the other cheek was upwards looking at the hanging mountain above their heads. They were not sincere in their promise.).
(64) (to be continued).

Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat: (B) The Sunnah/optional In A Solat:
(xiii) Sujud: Before going any further, let us look at what the Prophet s.a.w. had instructed us about the Sujud: (i) A Hadith reported from Anas who said, "The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Make perfect your Sujud and do not stretch out your arms like that of a dog lying flat on the ground." (narrated by Muslim). (ii) From Al-Barraa, who said, "The Prophet s.a.w. said, " When you Sujud, place your both palms (on the floor) but lift up your elbows". (narrated by Muslim).
(xiv) The Ritual Of Sitting Down In Between Two Sujud:
After the first Sujud was done, it is Sunnah to sit down. When raising the head and the upper body to sit down, it is Sunnah to utter Takbir, "Allohu Akbarr". It Sunnah to sit down, the "If-ti-rosy"/spreading way, that is the left foot is bent towards the right foot, and sit on the left foot, while the right foot is still erected with its toes pointing towards the Qiblat. This is based from the report from 'Aisyah r.a who said, "That the Prophet s.a.w. spread his left foot and erected his right sole" (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim). Ibnu 'Umar had reported the same and it was narrated by An-Nasa-i, and Abu Humeid had also reported the same and was narrated by Ahmad, Abu Daud and Tirmidzi.
However, a Hadith from Abu Zubeir that he heard Towus said, "We had asked Ibnu 'Abbas r.a. about sitting on both soles/heels. Ibnu 'Abbas replied that it was a Sunnah. Towus said, " Please explain because it seems impolite.". Ibnu 'Abbas replied, "It is a Sunnah Nabi s.a.w.". (narrated by Muslim).
And from Ibnu 'Umar r.a. "That he sits on the toes when raising from his first Sujud, and said that it was a Sunnah".
From Towus who said: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
