Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to look into the explanation of verse 142 of Surah Al-Baqoroh:
(Prophet Noah a.s. will be called on the Judgment Day and will be asked whether or not he had delivered the Risalah/mission to his Ummat/people. He a.s. say, "Yes". But his a.s. people will deny him. So Prophet Noah a.s. will call our Prophet s.a.w. and we the Muslimin to be his a.s. witnesses, because we know what had happened during his a.s. time, as Allah tells us in the Quran.
The Prophet s.a.w. then said, "That is what Allah meant by, " Thus We have made you/Muslimin  a moderate but just people and have chosen you (pl.).". He s.a.w. said, "Al-Wasat" means 'Adil/honest, just, fair. Thus you will be called out to give evidence of Noah a.s. on his a.s. mission. Then I shall give evidence of you". (narrated by Imam Ahmad, Bukhori, Tirmidzi, An-Nasa-i and Ibnu Majah).
At first, Allah commanded the Prophet s.a.w. to face Baitul Maqdis/Jerusalem in Solat, then He s.w.t. decreed him s.a.w. to turn to Caaba. so as to know who follow him s.a.w. and who deviate/apotatize. Truly, changing of the Qiblat was a very hard thing to do except for those who were being given guidance by Allah in believing in the Prophet s.a.w. That also shows thatAllah can do whatever thing He wish. He s.w.t. has the right to impose burden to His bondservants as He s.w.t. see fit, and to do away with the burden off them. There is a "Hikmah"/wisdom in and there is a reason in all that He s.w.t. do.
All Solat performed facing Jerusalem would not be regarded by Allah as useless and the rewards will be the same as facing towards the Caaba. From Al-Baraa who reported, "There were people/Muslimin who had passed away during their solat were still facing Jerusalem. Some of the Companions had asked about it, so, Allah revealed this verse, "And Allah will not regard your Iman/ Faith as useless".
"Truly, Allah is Most Compassinate, Most Merciful to mankind". In an authentic Hadith, it was reported that once, the Prophet s.a.w. had watched a captive woman being separated from her baby. Each time the woman got another captive baby, she would pick it up and embraced it to her bosom, and went round in searching  for her own baby. And when she found her own baby, she embraced it and then suckled it. The Prophet s.a.w. said, "What do you all think, would this woman had the heart to throw her baby into the fire while she is able not to do so?". The Companions replied, "No, O Messenger of Allah". The Prophet s.a.w. then said, "By Allah! Allah is more Compassinate to His bondservants than this woman towards her baby").
