(When the Prophet s.a.w. migrated to Medina, he s.a.w. was commanded to face towards Jerusalem when performing Solat. But his heart and soul loved to face towards Caaba in Mecca, his s.a.w. first Qiblat when he s.a.w. was in Mecca and which was also the Qiblat of Prophet Abraham a.s.. Allah wanted the Jews to see that the Muslimin were also facing Jerusalem in Solat, sharing the same Qiblat/direction when in Solat. Instead of being happy that the Muslimin shared the same Qiblat, they/the Jews except a few mocked the Muslimin for not having their own Qiblat and they had to share Qiblat with them/the Jews. The Prophet had always entreated that Allah would change the Qiblat for him s.a.w. from Jerusalem to Caaba in Mecca. He s.a.w. had always looked up to the heaven waiting and hoping that Archangel Gabriel a.s. would come bringing the good news, to change the Qiblat. After sixteen or seventeen months the Prophet s.a.w. had waited and had faced towards Jerusalem as the Qiblat, one afternoon, while performing Solat 'Ashor at a mosque, now is called "Al-Qiblatain"/two Qiblat mosque which was/is situated at Khalid ibnu Walid street, in 'Aqiq Valley, the revelation came asking him s.a.w. to change Qiblat. The Prophet s.a.w. turned from facing toward Jerusalem, walked away to the other side of the mosque to face Mecca. And his s.a.w. followers r.a. followed him s.a.w.
When the non-Muislimin saw that the Prophet s.a.w. and his s.a.w. followers r.a. had changed Qiblat, from formerly facing Jerusalem to Mecca, some misunderstood non-Muslimin asked, "What make them turn away from Jerusalem?" Allah answered that, the East and the West belong to Him. He/Allah do whatever He please. And He/Allah guide whom He s.w.t. wish.).
(143) (to be continued).
