Recitation 276

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(122) يَبِنِى~إِسْرَ~ءِيلَ اُذْكُرُواْ نِعْمَتِىَ اُلَّتِى~ أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأَنِّى فَضَّلْتُكُمْ عَلَى اُلْعَلَمِينَ = "Ya~ Ba-ni~~ Is-ro~~i~ladz-ku-ru~ Nii-ma-ti-yal-La-ti~~ An-'am-tu 'A-lai Kum Wan An~Ni~ Fadh-dhol Tu Kum 'A-lal-'A~la-mi~~n".  = O Children of Israel! Do remember My Niimat/comfort and luxuries that I gave all of you. And truly, I have favoured all of you and have prefered all of you to all the Creation.
{Verses 122 and 123 are the same as verses 47 & 48).
(123) وَاُتَّقُواْ يَوْمًا لَّا تَجْزِى نَفْسٌ عَن نَّفْسٍ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهَا عَدْلٌ وَلَا تَنفَعُهَا شَفَعَةٌ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ = "Wat-Ta-qu~ Yaw-mal-La~ Tajj-zi~ Naf-sun 'A~Naf-sinsy~SYai-aw~Wa La~ Yuqq-ba-lu Min Ha~ 'Add-luw~Wa La~ Tanf~fa-'u Ha~ SYa-fa~'a-tuw~Wa La~ Hum Yunsh~sho-ru~~n".  = And beware of the Day/Judgment Day when there is no soul can replace another at all. And no mediation will be accepted nor any ransom.
(These two verses are the repetition of verses 47 and 48. They are emphasizing the Commandment to believe in and to obey and to follow the Prophet s.a.w. who is/was an "Ummi"/unlettered person, and his teaching).
(123) (to be continued).
                                 =====*****=====
Let us now continue to look into the brief Chronicle of Prophet Jesus son of Mary a.s.
[I wish to correct a mistake I made in "Recitation 274". I wrote, "surah 18 Maryam, verses 19 till 33.". It should read, "surah 19, Maryam, verse 18 till 33". Sorry for the mistake.].
"Mary carried her baby Jesus a.s. to Jerusalem and went to her people. Seeing Mary carrying a baby and hea.s. was suckling, they said, "Mary! You come bringing a great problem to us! You are of a respectable and a holy family known for their piety. How could this be possible?". Mary did not answer but pointed to her suckling baby. The people became angry. They thought that Mary was mocking them. They said, "How could we talk to the baby?". Baby Jesus a.s. drew his tiny mouth from her mother's bosom and said in his babyish but very clear voice, "I am the bondservant of Yahweh. He has given me the Scripture and has appointed me a Prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I go. He has commanded me to (perform) Solat and to (pay) Zakat/poor-due as long as I am alive. He also commanded me to be dutiful to and honour my mother who has not made me arrogant nor mischievous. And may peace be blessed on the day I was born, and on the day I die, and on the day I shall be raised alive".
Few of the Children of Israel believed the baby Jesus a.s., but most of them were still uncertain about their innocence. They still called him, a son of a whore, and they called Mary, a great liar.
What happened to Prophet Jesus a.s. when he a.s. was a child and when he a.s. was a youth was not known. Except that he a.s. was being brought up the same as any other children and had been following class lessons. When he a.s. listened to what his teacher or a learned man said, he a.s. would not just listen and accepted all that were being said, but he a.s. would first compare  and contrast it before accepting it.
Prophet Jesus a.s. was well versed in the Torah. And he a.s. was not happy to see that most of the Children of Israel were in error and were deviated from the right path. They were submissive to lies and falsehoods.
When Prophet Jesus a.s. was about thirty years of age, he a.s. was made a "Rosul"/Messenger of Yahweh: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
