                             oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
(2) Solat: Ghusul/major ablution:
(iii) Ghusul/major ablution for the females:
Ghusul for the females is the same as that of a male, as was discussed in the previous session, except that the females need not undo their braided/woven hair so long as the water wet the roots of their hair.
The Hadith from Ummu Salamah r.a. said, "A woman asked the Prophet s.a.w., "My braided hair is very tight and firm, need I to undo it if I wanted to take major ablution?" The Prophet s.a.w. said, "It will be suffice when you pour water on your head 3 times, then you wash your whole body. Thus, you are cleansed." (narrated by Ahmad, Muslim and Tirmidzi). (b) Hadith from Ubei ibn Umeir r.a., "Aisyah r.a. received news that Abdullah bin Umar had asked his women to undo their braided hair when Ghusul. She r.a. said, "It is strange that Ibnu Umar asked his women to undo their hair when Ghusul! Why did he not ask them to cut off their hair? When I was taking a bath/major ablution together with the Prophet s.a.w. from one water container and what I did was nothing more than pouring 3 buckets of water onto my head." (narrated by Ahmad and Muslim). (c) Hadith from Aisyah r.a., said, " Asma binti Yazid asked the Prophet s.a.w. about bathing/ Ghusul of woman after menses. The Prophet s.a.w. said, "She should perform wudhuu properly with water with "Sidrin"/lotus jujubes leaves (can woman nowadays not use the scented soap?) Then she must pour water onto her head then rub her haead (with her fingers) so that the roots of the hair are wet. Then pour water again onto the head, rub the head (do it 3 times), then pour water to the body/bathe it.Then, she should take a piece of cotton and put some perfume on it and clean with it". Asma then asked, "How do I clean with it?". The Prophet s.a.w., said, "Subhanalloh/Glory be to Allah! Cleanse "it" with it." Aisyah r.a. said whisperingly, " Rub the cotton with perfume to the blood stain (at the private part)".
Then the Prophet s.a.w. was asked about bathing/ghusul of Janabah woman. The Prophet s.a.w. said, Take wudhuu properly first then pour water onto the head and rub the head so that the roots of the hair are wet, then pour water onto the body. (It is the same as that of the Ghusul by the male folks). (narrated by Jamaah except Tirmidzi).
(iv) Some matters about Ghusul to be explained and to be settled. (to be continued)
Until we meet again, see you all Quran Lovers later.
