أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(110) وَأَقِيمُواْ اُلصّلَوةَ وَءَاتُواْ اُلزَّكَوةَ ج وَمَا تُقَدٍّمُواْ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ اُللهِ قلى إِنَّ اُللهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
وَأَقِيمُواْ اُلصَّلَوةَ وَءَاتُواْ اُلزَّكَوةَ = "Wa A-qi~mush-SHo-la~ta Wa A~tuz-Za-ka~~h".  "Wa" = And, "A-qi~mu~" = establish, perform, "ash-SHo-la~ta" = the Solat/prayers, "Wa" = and, "A~tu~" = give, perform, pay, "az-Za-ka~ta" = the poor-due.
"Wa A-qi~mush-SHo-la~ta Wa A~tuz-Za-ka~~h". = Establish/ Perform the Solat and pay the Zakat.
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
"Wa" = And, "Ma~" = what, "Tu-qod-di-mu~" = you send forth, "Li" = for, "Anf~fu-si" = selves, souls, "Kum" = all of you, "Min" = of, "KHoi-rin" = good, "Ta-ji-du~" = you gain, "Hu" = it, " 'Ind~da" = from, "Al-Lohi" = Allah.
"Wa Ma~ Tu-qod-di-mu~ Li Anf~fu-si Kum~Min KHoi-rint~Ta-ji-du~ Hu 'Ind~dal-Loh". = For whatever good deed you send forth is for your souls that you will gain it/the reward from Allah.
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
إِنَّ اُللهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ = "In~nal-Loha Bi Ma~ Taa-ma-lu~na Ba-shi~~r".  "In~na" = Truly, "Al-Loha" = Allah, "Bi Ma~" = of what, "Taa-ma-lu~na" = all of you do, "Ba-shi~run" = aware.
"In~nal-Loha Bi Ma~ Taa-ma-lu~na Ba-shi~~r." = Truly, Allah is aware of what all of you do.
(In the previous verse, we have seen how the Jewish scholars tried to persuade the Believers to go back to their former Faith, Kufr, because when they had seen and had known the truth about the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. which made them envy him s.a.w. Thus, Allah asks the Believers to forgive and to endure them. In this verse, besides forgiving and enduring the offenders, Allah commands the Believers/the Muslim to establish the Solat and to pay Zakat/poor-due for the good of their own souls. Whatever good deed they, the Muslim do will earn themselves rewards from Allah. Allah is always aware of what all His creatures do.).
(111) (to be continued).
                            oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (J) The Fridays:
   (e) Be Early To The Mosque On Friday:
Other than the Imam, those who wish to attend Solat Jumaat are Sunnah to go to the mosque early. Al-Qomah said, "I went with Abdullah ibnu Mas'ud to the mosque on Friday. There were 3 people sitting in the mosque. Ibnu Mas'ud said, "I am the fourth person who comes to the mosque and I am not far from Allah. I heard the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Truly, on the Day of Resurrection people will sit one after another for Solat Jumaat, the first person, the second. the third, then the fourth. The fourth person will not be far from Allah". (narrated by Ibnu Majah and Al-Mundziri).
  (f) Do Not Step Over Other's Shoulder:
Abdullah ibnu Busr reported, "A man came to the mosque on Friday and stepped over a person's shoulder. The Prophet s.a.w. was giving a sermon, he s.a.w. said, "Please sit down. You are disturbing others, and you come late!". (narrated by Abu Daud, Nasa-i and Ahmad).
  (g) Perform Solat Sunnah Before Performing Solat Fardhu Jumaat:
Before Solat Fardhu Jumaat is performed, it is Sunnah to perform Solat Sunnah as long as the Imam has not come to give sermon. When the Imam comes, it is not Sunnah to perform any Solat Sunnah except the Solat Sunnah Tahiyyatul-Masjid. (On Fridays, it is permissible to perform Solat Sunnah at Midday/overhead sun). Solat Sunnah Tahiyyatul-Masjid may be performed even when the Imam is giving the sermon, but it must be done quickly. But if the Imam is about to conclude his sermon, then the Solat Sunnah Tahiyyatul-Masjid need not be performed.
  (h) The Wajib/Obligation Of Performing Solat Fardhu Jumaat:
Allah says in surah 62 Al-Jumaah verse 9, "O Believers! When you are called to Solat Jummat/Friday prayers, hasten to the rememberance of Allah (by performing the Solat Fardhu Jumaat) and leave your trading (at that moment). That is the best for all of you, if you but knew."
Abu Huroiroh r.a. and Ibnu Umar r.a. reported that they had heard the Prophet s.a.w. said, "People should stop from forsaking Solat Fardhu Jumaat. If they do not stop, Allah will seal their hearts, then they will be of those who are negligence." (narrated by Muslim, Ahmad and Nasa-i).
Abu Ja'd Adh-Dhomari reported that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Whosoever leaves/does not perform Solat Fardhu Jumaat for three consecutive times neglectfully (without any permissible excuse in Islam), Allah will seal his heart". (narrated by the five).
  (i) Those Who Are Wajib/Obligated To Perform Solat Fardhu Jumaat And Those Who Are Not: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(106) مَا نَنسَخْ مِنْ ءَايَةٍ أَوْ نُنسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِّنْهَآ أَوْ مِثْلِهَا قلى أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اُللهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
مَا نَنسَخْ مِنْ ءَايَةٍ أَوْ نُنسِهَا = "Ma~ Nans~sakh Min A~ya-tin Aw Nuns~si Ha~", "Ma~" = What, "Nans~sakh" = We abrogate/ cancel, "Min" = of, "A~ya-tin" = a verse, "Aw" = or, "Nuns~si" = We delay/caused to be forgotten, "Ha~" = it,
نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِّنْهَآ أَوْ مِثْلِهَا = "Naa-ti Bi KHoi-rim~Min Ha~~ Aw Mith-li Ha~".  "Naa-ti" = We bring/replace, "Bi" = with, "KHoi-rin" = better, "Min" = from/than, "Ha~" = it, "Aw" = or, "Mith-li" = similar to", "Ha~" = it.
"Ma~ Nans~sakh Min A~ya-tin Aw Nuns~si Ha~ Naa-ti Bi KHoi-rim~Min Ha~ Aw Mith-li Ha~". = What/Any verse/(Muujizat/Prophetic Powers) We/Allah abrogate or cause It/the verse/Muujizat to be forgotten, We/Allah replace It by a better One or One similar to It.
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اُللهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ = "A Lam Taa-lam An~nal-Loha 'A-la~ Kul-li SYai-inq~Qo-di~~r". "A Lam" = Do not, "Taa-lam" = you know, "An~na" = that, "Al-Loha" = Allah, " 'A-la~" = upon, "Kul-li" = all, "SYai-in" = things, "Qo-di~run" = powerful, capable.
"A Lam Taa-lam An~nal-Loha 'A-la~ Kul-li SYai-inq~Qo-di~~r".  = Do you not know that Allah has Power over all things?.
(We have been told that Prophet Moses a.s. had his a.s. Muujizat/Prophetic Powers, so did Prophet Jesus a.s. And their both Muujizat were different. The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. had his own Muujizat and It was/is different than that of the Prophet Moses's a.s. and that of the Prophet Jesus's a.s. because of differences of time, environment and place.
The word "A~yatin" in this verse could also mean "Verse in the Scriptures". Some certain verse had been abrogated was done in the merit of the people, such as the Mosaic law which was very harsh, some of them were abrogated and were replaced by  more gentle and kind laws in the Gospel brought by Prophet Jesus a.s. Then, finally, the Law brought by the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. had abrogated some of the Law brought by Jesus and Moses to a more present time Ruling which is more suitable to all Mankind and to the Jinn and it is suitable for all times and in all places and of all environtments till the end of time).
(107) (to be continued).
                               oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (I) Solat Sunnah Tahiyyatul-Masjid:
When a person enters into a mosque, he/she should perform 2 Rokaat Solat Sunnah Tahiy-yatul-Masjid/salutation the mosque before sitting down. If he/she sat down before performing Solat Tahiyyautl-Masjid, it would be Makruh to perform it, as put by Imam Hanafi and Maliki. Imam Syafiei said, if he/she purposely sat down and not because of forgetfulness or did not know, he/she could perform it as long as his/her sitting down is not more than the period of time of people  Solat 2 Rokaat. Imam Hanbali said, if he/ she sat down, he/she could perform it as long it/the sitting down  is not too long.
On Friday, when entering the mosque and the Khotib/preacher is delivering a sermon, one must perform a quick two Rokaat Solat Sunnah Tahiyyatul-Masjid. Jabir reported, "A man entered into the mosque on Friday while the Prophet s.a.w. was delivering a sermon. He s.a.w. said to the man, "Have you performed Solat?". He said, "No". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "When any of you enter the mosque on Friday and the Imam is delivering a sermon, you must perform a quick 2 Rokaat Solat (Sunnah Tahiyyatil- Masjid)." (narrated by Ahmad, Muslim and Abu Daud).

(Allah informs that those unbelievers, be they among the People of the Scripture, the Children of Israel who considered themselves as the only rightful person to hold the post of the Messenger and the Prophet of Allah/Yahweh because they were the descendants of Israel, so were those among the Polytheists, the Idolaters considered themselves as the rightful person to be the Messenger and the Prophet of God as they were very wealthy. But that good favour was not for any common person to possess. It was for Allah to determine who was the right person, and who He wished to bestow the good favour. Truly, Allah is the Infinite Bounty.).
(106) (to be continued).
                                    oooo000oooo
Let now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (H) The Solat Of A Person Who Slept Or Forgets To Perform Solat:
When a person slept or forgets to perform solat until the time of that Solat is over, he/she must perform it as soon as he/she wakes up from the sleep or when remembers that he/she has not performed the Solat.
Abu Qotadah r.a. reported that the Companions of the Prophet s.a.w. had told the Prophet s.a.w. about them falling on sleep and had missed performing the Solat. The Prophet s.a.w. said, "To fall on sleep does not mean to neglect (in performing the duty to perform Solat). Negligence is when a person who does not perform the Solat when he/she is not sleeping (or very busy). Thence, when he/she forgets to perform Solat or is asleep, he/she must perform it as soon as he/she remembers or when wakes up from the sleep.". (narrated by Nasa-i and Tirmidzi).
Imron ibnu Hushain r.a. reported, " We were on a journey with the Prophet s.a.w. during the night time. It was very late. We stopped to rest. Our sleep was very deep and sound till we were awaken by the strong heat of the sun. Everyone of us took the Wudhu hurriedly, but the Prophet s.a.w. told us to take it easy and be calm. Then, we began our journey (without performing Solat Shubuh), and continued with the journey until the sun was up. Then the Prophet s.a.w. took his Wudhu, asked Bilal to call the Adzan. Then the Prophet s.a.w. performed Solat Sunnah Fajar 2 Rokaat. Then Bilal call the Qomat. Then all of us performed Solat Shubuh in a Jamaah/group. After the solat, the Companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Should this Solat be reperformed tomorrow morning during its time?" The Prophet s.a.w. replied, "When you Lord prohibited you from earning  high charged interest for loan of money, would He accept it from you? (No, you need not reperform it)". (narrated by Ahmad and others).
  (I) The Times of Day When No Solat Should Be Performed:
The Times when Muslimin must not perform Solat are:
 (a) After Solat Fardhu Shubuh is performed until sunrise.
 (b) When sunrise until it is as high as a spear (about half an hour after sunrise).
  (c) At midday, the overhead sun until it begins to set/to slip away from the overhead towards  the West.
  (d) After performing Solat 'Ashor until sunset.
Amr ibnu Abasah r.a. reported, "I asked the Prophet s.a.w. "O Prophet! Tell me about the instruction of Solat. He s.a.w. said, "Perform Solat Shubuh. Then do not perform any Solat until sunrise and when it moves up, because (at that time, between sunrise and when it moves up (within a half hour) it/the sun is at the position of in between the two horns of the Satan. {Accoding to Nawawi, this means that the satan closes his head towards the sun so that when the sun-worshippers bow/worship the sun they would bow to him. And at that time, Satan and his army can disturb the Solat of the Muslimin. This is the reason why it is Makruh/not Sunnah to perform Solat during the above mentioned times}. This is the time when unbelievers worship/bow to the sun. Then (after a half hour after sunrise) perform Solat because at this time your Solat is being watched and is attended (by the Angels) until the shadow hits the spear (at midday/overhead sun). At this time (midday), do not perform Solat because the Hell Fire is being lit. Then, when the shadow (of an object) can be seen, perform Solat (Zhuhur) because the Solat is being watched and is attended (by the Angels) until you perform Solat 'Ashor. Then, do not perform Solat (after Solat Fardhu 'Ashor) until sunset because (during after Solat 'Ashor till sunset) it/the sun sets in between the two horns of the Satan. That is the time when the unbelievers bow to it.". (narrated by Ahmad and Muslim).
Uqbah ibnu Amir said, "The Prophet s.a.w. prohibited us from performing Solat, and from burying the deceased at three periods of times: (i) when sunrise until it is up/a half hour after sunrise, (ii) at midday and (iii) when the sun is inclining until setting". (narrated by Jamaah).
However most Ulama were/are of the opinion that to Qodhoo any Solat, may be performed during these said times, as the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Whosoever forgets to perform Solat, must perform it when he remembers". (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
  The Niat: "U-shol-li~ Far-dhosh-Shubhi Qo-dho~an".
  (J) Solat Sunnah Ta-hiy-ya-tul-Mas-jid/salutation to the mosque: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.

يَأَيُّهَا اُلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ = "Ya~ Ai-yu-hal-La-dzi~na A~ma-nu~",  "Ya~ Ai-yu-ha~" = O, "al-La-dzi~na" = who, "A~ma-nu~" = believe,

"Ya~ Ai-yu-hal-La-dzi~na A~ma-nu~ La~ Ta-qu~lu~ Ro~'i Na~ Wa Qu~lunzh~zhurr Na Was-ma-'u~".  = O Believers! Do not ever say (to the Prophet s.a.w. with the words) "Ro~'i Na~"/listen to us, but say, "Unzh~zhurr Na~"/look upon us. so, take heed.
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
وَلِلْكَفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ = "Wa Lil-Ka~fi-ri~na 'A-dza~bun A-li~~m". "Wa" = And, "Li" = for, "al-Ka~fi-ri~na" = the unbelievers, " 'A-dza~bun" = punishment, "A-li~mun" = painful.
"Wa Lil-Ka~fi-ri~na 'A-dza~bun A-li~~m".  = And for the unbelievers (shall be) painful punishment.
(Allah tells the Muuminin/Believers not to use words that were commonly used by the Jews or the Pagan Arabs which had abusive meaning, such as, "Ro~'i Na" = listen to us (while in Hebrew, it carries the meaning, "O evil one") when talking to the Prophet s.a.w. and they/the Muuminin should use other words which has the same meaning, that is "Unzh~zhur Na~" = look upon us, then take heed of what the Prophet s.a.w. had to explain.).
(105) (to be continued).
                              oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
  (2) Solat:  (G) Performning Solat Of A Traveller:
(vii) To Jamaa/bring together Solat In Certain Conditions:
Other than in a journey, we may Jamaa two Solat when in the following conditions:
  (a) When it rains: Abu Salamah ibnu Abdur-Rohman said, "It is a Sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w. to Jamaa Solat Maghrib with 'Isyaa when rain falls heavily.
  (b) When sick or any other permissible reasons:
Imam Ahmad, Qodhi Husain, Khottobi and Mutawalli of the Syafieiah permit a sick person when he/she is sick or is in pain especially the pain is worsen when rain falls, to Jamaa the Solat.
Ibnu Taimiyah said, "Madzhab Ahmad is the most broad in the question of Jamaa, they permit a person who is busy working, such as a cook or a baker and people who are afraid that their goods/work be spoilt (to Jamaa their Solat)..
  (c) When there is need to Jamaa:
Ibnu Abbas reported, "The Prophet s.a.w. had Jamaa Solat Zhuhur with 'Ashor, and Maghrib with 'Isyaa in Medinah, for no particular reason, not because of in fear nor because of rain". A man asked Ibnu Abbas, "Why did the Prophet s.a.w. did that?". Ibnu Abbas, replied, "He s.a.w. did not want to make (the duty of prforming the Solat) difficult/(he s.a.w. wants to make it easier, to lighten it) for his "Ummah"/people (to do)". أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
 ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(103) وَلَوْ أَنَّهُم ءَامَنُواْ واُتَّقَواْ لَمَثُوبَةٌ مِّنْ عِندِ اُللهِ خَيْرٌ صلى لَّوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ
وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُواْ وَاُتَّقَواْ = "Wa Law An~na Hum A~ma-nu~ Wat-Ta-qow",  "Wa" = And, "Law" = if, "An~na" = that, "Hum" = they, "A~ma-nu~" = believe, have Faith, "Wa" = and, "it-Ta-qow" = guard against,
لَمَثُوبَةٌ مِّن عِندِ اُللهِ خَيْرٌ = "La Ma-thu~ba-tum~Min 'Ind~dil-Lahi KHoi~r"(a Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun/ transitory to cease = 4 harakat. [The Ulama of higher studies regard this is still a Madd Lin. But what I learnt, this is a Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun]).  "La" = Surely, "Ma-thu~ba-tun" = reward, "Min 'Ind~di" = from, "Al-Lahi" = Allah, "KHoir" = better.
"Wa Law An~na Hum A~ma-nu~ Wat-Ta-qow La Ma-thu~ba-tam~Min 'Ind~dil-Lahi KHoi~r". = And/But if they believed/had Faith (in Allah/Yahweh) and had guarded theirselves/souls (against evil/witchcraft), surely reward from Allah/Yahweh will be much better.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ = "Law Ka~nu~ Yaa-la-mu~~n".  "Law" = if, "Ka~nu~" = to be, "Yaa-la-mu~na" = they know.
"Law Ka~nu~ Yaa-la-mu~~n". = If only they knew.
(Should the Children of Israel [and also the present-dayMuslimin] who practised Sihir/witchcraft believe in/have Faith in the Prophet s.a.w. and in the Quran, and fear the torment of Allah by relinquishing their practice of the witchcraft and other wrong doings, they would surely gain rewards from Allah/Yahweh. It would be much better for them to trade theirselves/souls for Allah's reward rather than trading in witchcraft. If only they knew.).

Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (G) Performing Solat Of a Traveller:
(ii) The Place Where Solat Qoshor Are Permitted:
The majority of the Ulama were/are of the opinion that as soon as a person leaves the town or the area of his/her village, he/she may Qoshor his/her Solat. And when returns home, when reaches the town or the first house in the village, his/her Solat cannot be Qoshor anymore.
Ibnu Mundzir said, "I have not found any information that the Prophet s.a.w. Qoshor/shortened his s.a.w. Solat in a journey except after he s.a.w. was out of Medina".
Anas said, "I performed Solat Zhuhur 4 Rokaat with the Prophet s.a.w. when we were in Medina and (when we were) in Dzul Hulaifah (we performed) two Rakaat". (narrated by Jamaah).
(iii) When A Traveller May Not Qoshor His Solat:
If he/she went to a place without intending to settle down there, he/she may Qoshor Solat until he/she returns home, no matter how long it would be.
Ibnul Qoyyim reported, "The Prophet s.a.w. stayed in Tabuk for twenty days and was performing Solat Qoshor".
Hafash ibnu Ubaidah said that Anas bin Malik stayed in Syam for two years and performed Solat as a traveller/Qoshor. Anas said, "All Companions r.a. of the Prophet s.a.w. had stayed in Ramhurmuz for seven months and always shortened their Solat".
Imam Ahmad said, "If a person had intended to settle down in a place for four days, then he cannot Qoshor his Solat".
(iv) Performing Solat Sunnah Of A Traveller:
Ibnu Umar and others were of the opinion that a traveller is not decreed to perform any Solat Sunnah except the Mid-night Solat Sunnah.
Ibnu Umar saw a group of people performing Solat Sunnah Rowatib/after Solat Fardhu, thence he r.a. said (to them), "If I wished to perform Solah Sunnah, I would not have performed Solat Fardhu Qoshor. Dear Brothers, I had always accompanied the Prophet s.a.w. in journeys, and I saw he s.a.w. had never performed more than two Rokaat till he s.a.w. passed away. I had also accompanied Abu Bakar, and his Solat was never more than two Rokaat. So were Umar and Uthman". Then Ibnu Umar recited the verse, "Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah is a good example for all of you (to follow)." (narrated by Bukhori).
  (v) The Niat:  أُصَلِّى فَرْضَ الظُهْرِ قَصْرًا = "U-shol-li~ Far-dhozh-Zhuh-ri Qosh-ro~".
(vi) To "Ja-maa"/bring together Two Solat Fardhu:
We may Jamaa/bring together two Solat Fardhu, (a) Zhuhur and 'Ashor, and (b) Maghrib and 'Isyaa.
Most Ulama were/are of the opinion that travellers may Jamaa the said solat during travelling and when arrived at the destination.
They may be done either performing in the time of Zhuhur or in the time of 'Ashor.
  (a) In the Time of Zhuhur:
First, perform Solat Fardhu Zhuhur Qoshor 2 Rokaat as usual. Then without another Qomat, perform Solat Fardhu 'Ashor Qoshor and Jamaa. The Niat: أُصَلِّى فَرْضَ الْعَصْرِ قَصْرًا جَمَعْ = "Usholli~ Fardhol-'Ashri Qosron Jamaa".
  (b) If the Jamaa is performed in the time of 'Ashor, Niat Qoshor and Jamaa in the Solat Zhuhur, but in Solat Fardhu 'Ashor, just Niat Qoshor.
   (c) Solat Fardhu Maghrib cannot be Qoshor. It is as usual, 3 Rokaat. When Jamaa with 'Isyaa, the same process as with (a) and (b).

   (d) Solat fardhu Shubuh is still 2 Rokaat and it cannot be Jamaa with either 'Isyaa or with Zhuhur.
(vii) To Jamaa Solat In Certain Conditions: (to be continued).

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(102.3) وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُواْ لَمَنِ اُشْتَرَىهُ مَا لَهُو فِى اُلْأَخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَقٍ ج وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْاْ بِهِى~ أَنفُسَهُمْ ج لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُواْ لَمَنِ اُشْتَرَىهُ مَا لَهُو فِى اُلْأَخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَقٍ "Wa La-qodd 'A-li-mu~ La Ma-nisy-ta-ro~ Hu Ma~ La Hu~ Fil-A~khi-ro-ti Min KHo-la~~qq.".  "Wa" = And, "La-qodd" = in fact, " 'A-li-mu~" = they know, "La" = that, "Mi-na" = who, "isy-ta-ro~" = purchase, trade, "Hu" = it, "Ma~" = no, "La" = for, "Hu~" = him, "Fi" = in, "al-A~khi-ro-ti" = the Hereafter, "Min" = from, of, "KHo-la~qin" = worth.
"Wa La-qodd 'A-li-mu~ La Ma-nisy-ta-ro~ Hu Ma~ La Hu~ Fil-A~khi-ro-ti Min KHo-la~~qq". = And in fact that they knew that he who purchases it/the witchcraft will worth/gain no
(happiness) in the Hereafter.
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْاْ بِهِى~ أََنفُسَهُمْ = "Wa La Bii-sa Ma~ SYa-row Bi Hi~~ Anf~fu-sa Hum".  "Wa" = And, "La" = surely, "Bii-sa" = vile, evil and low, "Ma~" = what, "SYa-row" = sell, Bi" = of, "Hi~" = it, "Anf~fu-sa" = selves, souls, "Hum" = their.
"Wa La Bii-sa Ma~ SYa-row Bi Hi~~ Anf~fu-sa Hum". =  And surely vile/evil and low (will be the price for) what they sell theirselves/souls for it, if only they knew).
(The Jewish scholars knew that witchcraftmen/women would never gain reward in the Hereafter, but would be punished in the Fiery Hell. But still, they practised it.
Sihir/Witchcraft, as told by Imam Al-Ghozali r.a. in his book, Al-Ah-yaa, is a craft using certain materials during certain time according to the cycle of the stars/horoscope. At a required moment, a spell is recited, invoking Satans for help. By the permission of Allah, as the Rule of Customary Law, it will be effective on the victim.
The sin is very great if one practises Sihir/witchcraft.).

Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
  (2) Solat:  (G) Performing Solat Of a Traveller:
   (i) The Distance A Solat May Be Shortened/Qoshor:
The opinion of some Imam that the minimum distance is two or three Marhalah/a day's journey: This opinion may be contested by the explanation by Imam Abu Qosim Al-Khorqi in his book Al-Mughni: "I have never found an evidence to support the opinions of those Ulama (that the distance should be 2 or 3 Marhalah. [ 1 Marhalah = about 28 miles]) because in this enigma, all Companions r.a. of the Prophet s.a.w. had difference of opinions that none (of the opinion) could be used as "Dalil"/evidence."
Ibnu Umar and Ibnu Abbas r.a. had reported different "Dalil"/ evidence that were used by our friends/the Imam of Fiqh. Contradiction in the reports by the Companions r.a. cannot be used as "Dalil"/evidence. Thence, the distance fixed by the Imam cannot be accepted because, (i) It contradicts the Sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w. and (ii) Because of the clear evident of surah 4 An-Nisaa verse 101, as mentioned earlier.
The Place Where Solat Qoshor Are Permitted: (to be continued).
