Recitation 257

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
 ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(103) وَلَوْ أَنَّهُم ءَامَنُواْ واُتَّقَواْ لَمَثُوبَةٌ مِّنْ عِندِ اُللهِ خَيْرٌ صلى لَّوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ
وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُواْ وَاُتَّقَواْ = "Wa Law An~na Hum A~ma-nu~ Wat-Ta-qow",  "Wa" = And, "Law" = if, "An~na" = that, "Hum" = they, "A~ma-nu~" = believe, have Faith, "Wa" = and, "it-Ta-qow" = guard against,
لَمَثُوبَةٌ مِّن عِندِ اُللهِ خَيْرٌ = "La Ma-thu~ba-tum~Min 'Ind~dil-Lahi KHoi~r"(a Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun/ transitory to cease = 4 harakat. [The Ulama of higher studies regard this is still a Madd Lin. But what I learnt, this is a Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun]).  "La" = Surely, "Ma-thu~ba-tun" = reward, "Min 'Ind~di" = from, "Al-Lahi" = Allah, "KHoir" = better.
"Wa Law An~na Hum A~ma-nu~ Wat-Ta-qow La Ma-thu~ba-tam~Min 'Ind~dil-Lahi KHoi~r". = And/But if they believed/had Faith (in Allah/Yahweh) and had guarded theirselves/souls (against evil/witchcraft), surely reward from Allah/Yahweh will be much better.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ = "Law Ka~nu~ Yaa-la-mu~~n".  "Law" = if, "Ka~nu~" = to be, "Yaa-la-mu~na" = they know.
"Law Ka~nu~ Yaa-la-mu~~n". = If only they knew.
(Should the Children of Israel [and also the present-dayMuslimin] who practised Sihir/witchcraft believe in/have Faith in the Prophet s.a.w. and in the Quran, and fear the torment of Allah by relinquishing their practice of the witchcraft and other wrong doings, they would surely gain rewards from Allah/Yahweh. It would be much better for them to trade theirselves/souls for Allah's reward rather than trading in witchcraft. If only they knew.).
(104) (to be continued).
                                  oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (G) Performing Solat Of a Traveller:
(ii) The Place Where Solat Qoshor Are Permitted:
The majority of the Ulama were/are of the opinion that as soon as a person leaves the town or the area of his/her village, he/she may Qoshor his/her Solat. And when returns home, when reaches the town or the first house in the village, his/her Solat cannot be Qoshor anymore.
Ibnu Mundzir said, "I have not found any information that the Prophet s.a.w. Qoshor/shortened his s.a.w. Solat in a journey except after he s.a.w. was out of Medina".
Anas said, "I performed Solat Zhuhur 4 Rokaat with the Prophet s.a.w. when we were in Medina and (when we were) in Dzul Hulaifah (we performed) two Rakaat". (narrated by Jamaah).
(iii) When A Traveller May Not Qoshor His Solat:
If he/she went to a place without intending to settle down there, he/she may Qoshor Solat until he/she returns home, no matter how long it would be.
Ibnul Qoyyim reported, "The Prophet s.a.w. stayed in Tabuk for twenty days and was performing Solat Qoshor".
Hafash ibnu Ubaidah said that Anas bin Malik stayed in Syam for two years and performed Solat as a traveller/Qoshor. Anas said, "All Companions r.a. of the Prophet s.a.w. had stayed in Ramhurmuz for seven months and always shortened their Solat".
Imam Ahmad said, "If a person had intended to settle down in a place for four days, then he cannot Qoshor his Solat".
(iv) Performing Solat Sunnah Of A Traveller:
Ibnu Umar and others were of the opinion that a traveller is not decreed to perform any Solat Sunnah except the Mid-night Solat Sunnah.
Ibnu Umar saw a group of people performing Solat Sunnah Rowatib/after Solat Fardhu, thence he r.a. said (to them), "If I wished to perform Solah Sunnah, I would not have performed Solat Fardhu Qoshor. Dear Brothers, I had always accompanied the Prophet s.a.w. in journeys, and I saw he s.a.w. had never performed more than two Rokaat till he s.a.w. passed away. I had also accompanied Abu Bakar, and his Solat was never more than two Rokaat. So were Umar and Uthman". Then Ibnu Umar recited the verse, "Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah is a good example for all of you (to follow)." (narrated by Bukhori).
  (v) The Niat:  أُصَلِّى فَرْضَ الظُهْرِ قَصْرًا = "U-shol-li~ Far-dhozh-Zhuh-ri Qosh-ro~".
(vi) To "Ja-maa"/bring together Two Solat Fardhu:
We may Jamaa/bring together two Solat Fardhu, (a) Zhuhur and 'Ashor, and (b) Maghrib and 'Isyaa.
Most Ulama were/are of the opinion that travellers may Jamaa the said solat during travelling and when arrived at the destination.
They may be done either performing in the time of Zhuhur or in the time of 'Ashor.
  (a) In the Time of Zhuhur:
First, perform Solat Fardhu Zhuhur Qoshor 2 Rokaat as usual. Then without another Qomat, perform Solat Fardhu 'Ashor Qoshor and Jamaa. The Niat: أُصَلِّى فَرْضَ الْعَصْرِ قَصْرًا جَمَعْ = "Usholli~ Fardhol-'Ashri Qosron Jamaa".
  (b) If the Jamaa is performed in the time of 'Ashor, Niat Qoshor and Jamaa in the Solat Zhuhur, but in Solat Fardhu 'Ashor, just Niat Qoshor.
   (c) Solat Fardhu Maghrib cannot be Qoshor. It is as usual, 3 Rokaat. When Jamaa with 'Isyaa, the same process as with (a) and (b).

   (d) Solat fardhu Shubuh is still 2 Rokaat and it cannot be Jamaa with either 'Isyaa or with Zhuhur.
(vii) To Jamaa Solat In Certain Conditions: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
