Recitation 359.B

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to look into the Rites For Umra:
In 1989, I accompanied my sisters to perform the Hajj and Umra. I heard from their friends that they were using a kind of pill which stops menses. The use of the pill is permissible and is harmless. The ladies can perform the Rites for the Hajj and the Umra with peace in mind and in body. Please ask your family doctor about it. The doctor must be a Muslim.
Let us now look into the conditions for Towaf:
 (i) The body is free from minor defilement and from major defilement, and the body and the cloths/clothes are free from defilement/filth. (from Ibnu Abbas, narrated by At-Tirmidzi and Ad-Daruqutni).
(ii) To cover one's 'Awrat/modesty. (from Abu Huroiroh, narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
(iii) Must complete the Seven circumambulations/go round in circles, the Caaba.
(iv) Must start the Towaf (the Caaba) from the Hajar Aswad/Black Stone corner. There is a signal lamp (I do not know where it, for when I was there, we followed a black line on the floor) and we start from there. The guide/mutawif will guide us to it.
 (v) The Caaba must always be on our left side. If it were on our right, then our Towaf is spoilt, (from Jabir r.a., narrated by Muslim).
(vi) Towaf must be done outside the Caaba. If we Towaf in the Hijir Ismail (the space between the Caaba and the semicircle embankment), in the North side of the Caaba, the Towaf is spoilt, (surah 22 Al-Hajj verse 29).
(vii) To continue walking while Towaf and must not stop. If one is sick, or weak, or tired, one may rest a while, then continue walking. Imam Hanafi and Imam Syafiei were/are of the opinion that walking continuously is a Sunnah.
Let us look into the Sunnah in The Towaf:
(i)To face towards the Hajar Aswad on starting to perform the Towaf, and recite the Takbir, and Tahlil and lift up both hands to the ears, as we do in our Solat, (from Ibnu Umar, narrated by Hakim).
(ii) To hold the upper cloth (of menfolks) under the right armpit (the right shoulder is bare), but the left shoulder is covered. (from Ibnu Abbas, narrated by Ahmad and Abu Daud).
(iii) To walk quickly in the first Three rounds, and to walk the ordinary walk in the Fourth and the rest. (from Ibnu Umar, narrated by Ahmad and Muslim).
(iv) To caress the "Rukun Yamani/corner. Ibnu Umar r.a. said, "I have never seen the Prophet s.a.w. caressed other "Rukun"/corners except the corners of Yemen and the Hajar Aswad, either during trouble times or not." (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
[These Two corners have their specialty: (i) it was the foundation where Prophet Abraham a.s. stood when building the Caaba, and (ii) it is where the Hajar Aswad is situated].
                                   **************
  (E) When Entering the Baitul-Lohil-Harom:
We shall be guided by our guide/mutawif to enter into the Sacred Mosque, as we enter into the door, it Sunnah to recite with Khusyuu and Tawadh-dhuu = (humbly and modestly):

وَتَعْظِيمًا وَتَكْرِيْمًا وَمَهَابَةً = "Wa Taa-zhi~man Wa Tak-ri~man Wa Ma-ha~bah" = ( and the exaltation, and the respect and the dignity of this House,
Wa Zid Man Sya-ro-fa Hu Wa Ka-ro-ma Hu Mim~man Haj-ja Hu" = ( and increse people who respect it/the Caaba and who are performing Hajj,
A-wii-ta-ma-ro Hu~" = ( or those who perform Umra,

Fa Hai-yi Na~ Rob-ba Na~ Bis-Sa-la~m" = (Thus, greet us, O our Lord, with tranquillity).
 (G) Then move to the Hajar Aswad: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.
