أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(102.1) وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِن أَحَدٍ حَتَّى يَقُولآ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فَتْنَةٌ فَلاَ تَكْفُرْ صلى فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِى بَيْنَ اُلْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِى ج
وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِن أَحَدٍ حَتَّى يَقُولآ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلاَ تَكْفُرْ = "Wa Ma~ Yu-'al-li-ma~ni Min A-ha-din Hat-ta~ Ya-qu~la~~ In~na Ma~ Nah-nu Fit-na-tunf~Fa La~ Tak-furr".  "Wa" = And, "Ma~" = no, "Yu-'al-li-ma~ni" = they both teach, "Min" = of, to, "A-ha-din" =  anyone, "Hat-ta~" = until, "Ya-qu~la~" = they both say, "In~na" = truly, "Ma~" = what, "Nah-nu" = we, "Fit-na-tun" = tempation to evil, "Fa La~" = then do not, "Tak-furr" = you be blasphemy/contempt for Allah/Yahweh.
"Wa Ma~ Yu-'al-li-ma~ni Min A-ha-din Hat-ta~ Ya-qu~la~~ In~na Ma~ Nah-nu Fit-na-tunf~Fa La~ Tak-furr". = And both of them/Harut and Marut never taught anyone before saying to him/her, "Truly, what we (teach) is only a tempation to evil. So, do not blasphemy".
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِى بَيْنَ اُلْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِى = "Fa Ya-ta-'al-la-mu~na Min Hu-ma~ Ma~ Yu-far-ri-qu~na Bi Hi~ Bai-nal-Marr-i Wa Zaw-jih".  "Fa" = Then, "Ya-ta-'al-la-mu~na" = they learn, "Min" = from, "Hu-ma~" = both of them, "Ma~" = what, how, "Yu-far-ri-qu~na" =  to separate, "Bi Hi~" = with it, "Bai-na" = between, "al-Marr-i" = a man, "Wa" = and, "Zaw-ji" = wife, "Hi~" = his.
"Fa Ya-ta-'al-la-mu~na Min Hu-ma~ Ma~ Yu-far-ri-qu~na Bi Hi~ Bai-nal-Marr-i Wa Zaw-jih". = Then they/the Jewish scholars and the priests and so forth learnt from both of them/Harut and Marut (witchcraft, among others) how to separate a man from his wife.
(The two Angels, Harut and Marut were sent by Allah to earth, in Babylon country to rule the world, to compete with mankind who the Angels considered as sinners. And the Angels were wondering how mankind, who are sinners, could rule and make the world peaceful and prosperous and free from sin and wickedness. Thus Harut and Marut, a high ranking Angels, were sent to earth to rule the earth, to see who could rule better, the Angels or the mankind. At first, there was peace in the land. But as the time passes by, finally, the two Angels began to be given by Allah sexual desires, one of the dispositions mankind has. Thence, both Angels experienced many difficulties and temptations like the mankind has. Thus, they had forgoten their quality of  being Angels and had forgoten their task and their responsibility given by the Angels. When the Jewish scholars came to them to learn "super power", they both taught them "Sihir"/witchcraft. But before teaching them, both of them would say, "These are only temptation to evil, so do not be plasphemy".
But they/the Jewish scholars never listened to the advice. They used the witchcraft in accodance with their lustful wishes.)
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
(to be continued).

Let us now look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (F) Solat Sunnah:
   (vii) Sujud Syukur/thankful:
It is not a Solat but it is just a Sujud. It is done outside a Solat.
The Jumhur/multitude of Ulama were of the opinion that when obtaining any "Nikmat"/benefit or blessing or comfort or prosperity or happiness and so forth, or averted from any harm, it is Sunnah to perform Sujud Syukur. (We should not say, "YES!" and clench the fist. This gesture is a sign of no Allah. And the Sujud must not be performed in front people).
Abu Bakrah reported, "When the Prophet s.a.w. received anything good or a good news, he s.a.w. would perform Sujud thanking Allah for it". (narrated by Abu Daud, Ibnu Majah and Tirmidzi).
   (G) Performing Solat Of A Traveller:
A person who is on a journey:
Allah says in surah 4 An-Nisaa verse 101, "When you travel through the earth, there is no sin for you to shorten your Solat".
Aisyah r.a. reported, "In the beginning, in Mecca,  the Solat was performed in 2 Rokaat, 2 Rokaat. When the Prophet s.a.w. migrated to Medina, the Solat of 2 Rokaat was added to another 2 Rokaat (becoming 4 Rokaat) except the Maghrib because it is the daytime Solat Witir (it is 3 Rokaat), and Solat Shubuh (is left with its 2 Rokaat) because the recitation in it is long. When the Prophet s.a.w. went on a journey, he s.a.w. performs the Solat as he s.a.w. had performed in Mecca (2 Rokaat, 2 Rokaat)." (narrated by Ahmad, Baihaqi, Ibnu Hibban, and Ibnu Khuzaimah).
Ibnu Qoyyim said, "When the Prophet s.a.w. began to make a journey, he s.a.w. "Qoshor"/shorten the 4 Rokaat Solat to 2 Rokaat until he returned home in Medina. There was no report that he s.a.w. had performed 4 Rokaat (during his journey).
All Ulama had unanimously agreed with this. Though they disagreed in its decree. Amr, Ali, Ibnu Mas-'ud, Ibnu 'Abbas, Abdullah ibnu Umar and Jabir had determined that it/to Qoshor/shorten is Wajib/obligatory. And this is what the Ulama of Hanafiyah adhered.
The Ulama of Malikiyah were/are of the opinion that it is Sunnah Muakkad, and it is more Muakkad/possitive than a Solat in a group.
If there is no other traveller, the traveller must perform Solat Qoshor by himself for he/she cannot follow an Imam who is a resident/non traveller.
The Ulama of Syafieiyah and the Hambaliyah were of the opinion that it is "Mubah"/permissible, but it is better to Qoshor than not".
  (i) The Distance A Solat May Be Shorten/Qoshor: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
