Recitation 249

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(98) مَن كَانَ عَدُوًّا لِّلهِ وَمَلَئِكَتِهِى وَرُسُلِهِى وَجِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَلَ فَإِنَّ اُللهَ عَدُوٌّ لِلْكَفِرِينَ
مَن كَانَ عَدُوًّا لِّلهِ = "Mank~Ka~na 'A-duw-Wal-Lil-Lahi",  "Man" = Whoever, "Ka~na" = is, " 'A-duw-wan" = enemy, "Li" = of, "Al-Lohi" = Allah,
وَمَلَئِكَتِهِى وَرُسُلِهِى وَجِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَلَ = "Wa Ma-la~~i-ka-ti Hi~ Wa Ru-su-li Hi~ Wa Jibb-ri~la Wa Mi~ka~la",  "Wa" = and, "Ma-la~~i-ka-ti" = Angels, "Hi~" = His, "Wa Ru-su-li" = and Messengers, "Hi~" = His, "Wa Jibb-ri~la" = and Gabriel, "Wa Mi~ka~la" = Michael,
فَإِنَّ اُللهَ عَدُوًّا لِلْكَفِرِينَ = "Fa In~nal-Loha 'A-duw-wal-Lil-Ka~fi-ri~~n".  "Fa" = then, "in~na" = truly, "Al-Loha" = Allah, " 'A-duw-wan" = enemy, "Li" = of, "al-Ka~fi-ri~na" = the disbelievers.
"Mank~Ka~na 'A-duw-wal-Lil-Lahi Wa Ma-la~~i-ka-ti Hi~ Wa Ru-su-li Hi~ Wa Jibb-ri~la Wa Mi~ka~la Fa In~nal-Loha 'A-duw-wal-Lil-Ka~fi-ri~~n". = Whosoever is an enemy to Allah and to His Angels and to His Messengers and to Gabriel and to Michael, then Allah is an enemy to all the disbelievers.
(This verse informs us that if any one of us, mankind stands against Allah s.w.t. and so forth or anyone of them means that we are the enemy of Allah.
To oppose Gabriel a.s. who is the Archangel, and he a.s. is the Angel who relays messages/revelations from Allah. Revelations are food for the souls.
To oppose Michael a.s. but he a.s. is the Angel who provides Rizq/livelihood, sustenance, wealth, fortune, offspring and blessing of Allah to all of us and all creatures.
To oppose the Messengers of Allah is surely opposing Allah Himself. People opposing Allah does not hurt Allah in the slightess. But it is them that will suffer the punishment of Allah).

Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
  (2) Solat:  (F) Solat Sunnah:
    (iv) Solat Sunnah Witir/odd (in numbers): It is a Solat Sunnah Muakkadd/positive/confirmed, as Ali r.a. said, "Solat Witir is not Wajib/obligatory as those the five times Solat. But the Prophet s.a.w. had after performing Solat Witir said, "O People of Al-Quran! Perform the Solat Witir because Allah is Witir/odd (in number) and loves that is Witir". (narrated by Ahmad and people of Sunan).
  All Ulama had set the time for solat Sunnah Witir is after Solat 'Isyaa (i.e. after the Solat Sunnah Rowatib 'Isyaa) till the enter of the time for Solat Shubuh. Abu Bashroh reported that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Really, Allah had added a Solat for all of you, that is Solat Witir. Therefore, perform Solat Witir between Solat 'Isyaa until Solat Shubuh". (narrated by Ahmad, with a good sanad).
It was reported that the Prophet s.a.w. had performed Solat Witir with 9, 7, 5, 3 and 1 Rokaat. They were done in 2 Rokaat in each Solat except the final, in one Rokaat. The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Night Solat (Sunnah) is two (Rokaat), two (Rokaat). If you are afraid, time for Solat Shubuh has come, then Solat Witir in one Rokaat as a Witir for the Rokaat you have performed that night".
  Niat for Solat in one Rokaat:  أُصَلِّى سُنَّةَ الْوِتْرِ رَكْعَةً وَاحِدَةً = "U-shol-li~ Sun~na-tal-Witri Ro-ka-'a-taw~Wa~hi-dah". = (I perform Solat Sunnah Witri one Rokaat).
[Most people perform only 3 Rokaat. It may be performed in one Tasyhhud/one Salam, or in 2 Salam = 2 Rokaat + 1.].
