بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh (synopsis of Islam). Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(100) أَوَكُلَّمَا عَهَدُواْ عَهْدًا نَّبَذَهُو فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم ج بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
أَوَكُلَّمَا عَهَدُواْ عَهْدًا نَّبَذَهُو فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ = "A-wa Kul-la-ma~ 'A~ha-du~ 'Ah-dan~Na-ba-dza Hu~ Fa-ri~qum~Min Hum".  "A-wa" = Is it not, "Kul-la-ma~" = whenever, " 'A~ha-du~" = they make, " 'Ah-dan" = a covenant, agreement, "Na-ba-dza" = throw away, discard, "Hu~" = it, "Fa-ri~qun" = a group, "Min Hum" = of them.
"A-wa Kul-la-ma~ 'A~ha-du~ 'Ah-dan~Na-ba-dza Hu~ Fa-ri~qum~Min Hum". = Is it not that whenever they made a covenant, a group of them threw it away/discarded it.
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ = "Bal Ak-tha-ru Hum La~ Yuu-mi-nu~~n".  "Bal" = But, the truth is, "Ak-tha-ru" = most of, "Hum" = them, "La~" = no, not, "Yuu-mi-nu~na" = they believe.
"Bal Ak-tha-ru Hum La~ Yuu-mi-nu~~n". = But, the truth is, most of them do not have Faith.
(Allah tells us that whenever the Children of Israel (and also the Children of Adam, be they Muslimin or not) had made a covenant or an agreement, there are those who broke it. The Children of Israel had made a covenant with the Prophet s.a.w. to help and to co-orperate with him s.a.w. to fight against enemies when they attack the Muslimin in Medina, but they, the Children of Israel, betrayed the Prophet s.a.w. and they broke their promise (as they did in the Battle of Al-Ahzab/the clans). They broke their promise because they do not have Iman/Faith).
(101) (to be continued).
                                    oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
   (2) Solat:  (F) Solat Sunnah":
   (iv) Solat Sunnah Witir:
When the Doa Qunut Is Recited:
Doa Qunut may be recited after Al-Quran is recited and before the Rukuu, or after the Rukuu and Iitidal. Humaid reported that he had asked Anas r.a. about Qunut, is it before Rukuu or after Rukuu. Anas r.a. replied, "At times, we recited it before Rukuu and at times we recited it after Rukuu". (narrated by Ibnu Majah and Muhammad ibnu Nasr).
If the Qunut is recited before Rukuu, after the completion of Al-Quran, first utter the Takbir, "Al-Lohu Akbar" while raising both hands. And after the doa is recited, utter the Takbir once again and Rukuu. This is what  a large number of Ulama said.
A number of Ulama said, it is Sunnah to raise both hands while reciting the Doa. But another number of Ulama did not consider it is a Sunnah.
About wiping the face after reciting the Doa, Baihaqi said, "It is better not to wipe the face. It is suffice to follow the Ulama of the past by raising both hands and do not wipe the face with both hands.".
    The Doa After Solat Witir:
Ubay ibnu Ka'ab said that the Prophet s.a.w. usually recited after Witir, "Sub-ha~nal-Ma-li-kil-Qud-du~s" 3 times and then, "Rob-bul-Ma-la~i-ka-ti War-Ru~h". loudly.". (narrated by Abu Daud and Nasa-i).
The Solat Witir Cannot Be Performed Twice In One Night. Ali r.a. said, "I heard the Prophet s.a.w. said, "There is no two Witir (performed at separate times) in one night".(narrated by Abu Daud, Nasa-i, and Tirmidzi).
If a person, after performing Sunnah Witir, and had time to perform other Solat Sunnah, he/she may do so but need not perform Witir anymore.
To Qodhoo/make up for Solat Sunnah Witir: From Abu Huroiroh r.a. who said, "The Prophet s.a.w. said, "If the time for Shubuh has come, and you have not perform Solat Witir, then (perform Qodhoo) Witir". (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
   (v) Solat Sunnah Dhu-ha: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Abdul Hamid Mohd Yusof.
