                                oooo0000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the Basic Islamic Rules:
 (2) Solat: (D) To Cover Up The 'Awrat/modesty:
(ii) Those who say that the Navel, the Abdomen, the Private parts and the Buttocks, the Thighs and the Knees are 'Awrat/modesty of the male based their opinions on these Hadith (a) From Muhammad ibnu Jahsy who said, "The Prophet s.a.w. had passed by Maamar who had exposed his thighs and said to Maamar, "O Maamar!Cover your thighs up as they are 'Awrat/modesty" (narrated by Ahmad, Hakim and Bukhari in his book "Tarikh/chronicales", while in his/Bukhari "SHohih/Authentic" he said that this Hadith is "Mu'allaq"/suspended (there is a flaw in one of the narrators which is agreed by Ibnu Hajar in his Fat-hu al-Bari. While 'Alauddin At-Turkumani in his sanad of this Hadith says that there are two flaws).
(b) From Jarhad who said, "The Prophet s.a.w. had passed by when I was wearing a cloth and the cloth was opened exposing my thighs, the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Cover your thighs up, because thighs are 'Awrat". (narrated by Malik, Ahmad, Abu Daud and Tirmidzi who says it is a good Hadith, but Bukhari suspended it).
[Prof. T.M.Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqi in his book, the Collections of Ahadith Hukum says: People of Religion had a divided opinions:
Asy-Syafiei is of the opinion that the knees are not 'Awrat, but the navel is.(That is, from the navel down to the knees is 'Awrat).
Abu Hanifah says the navel is not but the knees are 'Awrat.
An-Nawawi says, "The 'Awrat of a male is between the navel and the knees. The navel and the knees are not 'Awrat.
These are the authentic opinions:
   (i) Those in between the navel and the knees, but the navel and the knees are not. (2) The navel and the knees are 'awrat (3) The Navel is but the knees are not. (4) The navel is not but the knees are. (5) The 'Awrat is the private parts and the bottocks.
We should base our opinion in this issue on it linguistic, that is 'Awrat means the private parts including the buttocks. But since there are Hadith ordering us to cover the thighs, they should be covered too.]
  (E) The 'Awrat/modesty Of A Female: (to be continued).
Until we meet again, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Abdul Hamid Mohd Yusof.
