ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
We have looked into almost every thing that concern the Shoum/Fast. We are now at the last day of the first week of the Fast.
Usually during the month of Ramadan, we, Muslimin will have to pay Zakat/h. Zakah simply means a portion of wealth entitled to Allah which is in the possession of a person. And it/the portion of wealth must be given to the poor and the needy.
There are Two types of Zakah. (1) The Zakah Fitri/Fast-breaking. (2) Zakah on Wealth, they are (i) Zakah on Gold and Silver including money, (ii) On Creditors, (iii) On Bank obligations and the Promisory Notes, (iv) On Ornaments, (v) On Rent on house/s, (vi) On Trade, (vii) On Crops and Fruits, (viii) On Livestock/ camels, cows and sheep and goats, (ix) On Hidden Treasures and Minerals and Metals and Precious Stones and so forth that are obtained by mining, and (x) On Products from the Sea.
(1) Zakah Fitri, is a Zakah/alms tax obligatory on every Muslim, young, old, man, woman, a free person, or a slave, each to pay this Zakah Fitri because he/she will not be fasting after the end of the month of Ramadan. Bukhori and Muslim narrated from Ibnu Umar who said, "The Prophet s.a.w. had imposed Zakah Fitri/ breaking-fast tax on every Muslim slave, free man, man, woman, boy, girl, and babies, 3.1 litre of date or wheat each".
They/the Muslimin usually pay the Zakah Firtri a day or two before the 'Idul-Fitri/Feast of Breaking the Ramadan Fast.
From Ibnu Abbas who said, " The Prophet s.a.w. imposed the Zakah Fitri on every Muslim in order that the Zakah will purify the person who fast from futility/uselessness, triviality and foul words, and food for the poor and the needy. Those who pay it/the Zakah Fitri before Solat 'Id, then it is a Zakah, but if it were given after the Solat, it is not Zakah anymore but just an ordinary alms." (narrated by Abu Daud, Ibnu Majah and Ad-Daruqutni).
Who Should Pay Zakah Fitri?: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
