Recitation 347.4

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
We have seen in the last session that when people who fast and they eat, drink and have sex until the dawn shows up. And when it is dawn and they have food in their mouths, they must spit it out, or if they were having sex and when dawn shows up, they must stop abruptly. If they did not, their fast on that day is spoilt. Thus, in order that peole do not have to spit their food out of their mouths, or that they need not have to stop abruptly in their sexs act, and that they will not spoil their fast if they continued, the Ulama/experts of Fiqh/Islamic jurisprudence had fixed a time called the Imsak/ cessation.
When the first experts of Fiqh who set up the calculations for Solat times, using a special scale measuring the shadow of the sun: when they knew a time for a Solat, let us say it was for Solat Shubuh, and let us say, it was 5.30 a.m. They, the Ulama said, "5.30 was assumed/supposed to be the time for solat Shubuh has come. But we must be and must make absolutely sure that the time for Shubuh has really come in, then only the Solat Shubuh can be performed". Then the Ulama had unanimously agreed to add Five more minutes to the "5.30". It is a Rule that when the Ulama/expert in Fiqh has fixed a Rule, it Wajib/obligatory for the followers to adhere. And then the time for Solat Shubuh was fixed at "5.35" a.m. Thus, the time for Solat Shubuh was "5.35" a.m. And no one can perform Solat Shubuh before that fixed time. And at "5.35" a.m. the muezzin will call the Adzan at "5.35" a.m. and not before.
In order that the Muslimin do not spoil their Fast because of swallowing the food in their mouths or that they had to stop abruptly while having sex, the Ulama had unanimously agreed to add Five minutes before the assumed/supposed time for Shubuh, i.e. "5.30" a.m to "5.25" a.m. as the Imsak/cession time from eating, drinking and so forth. When it is "5.25" a.m., the food in the mouth may be swallowed and then stop eating and drinking. And if they were having sex, stop slowly and gently that no one is uncomfortable and then stop to Fast. Thus, no one will have his/her Fast spoilt.
                                   oooo000oooo
Let us now look into the things that spoil one's Fast:
There are Two catagories of Spoilt Fast, (a) the Fast is spoilt and it must be Qodhoo/settled, to make for on other day/s after the month of Ramadan, and (b) the Fast is spoilt and it must be Qodhoo and be "Kaffaro"/expiate or fine.
 (a) Things That Spoil The Fast and Must Be Qodhoo Only:
 (i) Purposely eating and drinking.
[Eating or drinking because of forgetfulness or is being forced/under duress, need not Qodhoo nor Kaffaro/fine. (narrated by Jama'ah).
Ibnu Abbas reported that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Truly, Allah do not take account of my followers who had wronged due to forgetfulness or due to duress". (narrated by Ibnu Majah, Tibroni and Hakim)].
(ii) Purposely vomit. Forcing ourselves to vomit.
Unintentional voming does not spoil the Fast. Abu Huroiroh reported that the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Whosoever vomit (unintentionally) need not Qodhoo, and whosoever intentionally vomit, must Qodhoo". (narrated by Ahmad, Tirmidzi, Ibnu Majah, Hakim and others).
(iii) Menses or Post-Natal Bleeding. Even if it comes a few seconds before sunset.
(iv) Discharging of semen, only semen, intentionally. It is discharged because of one's action, such as kissing, hugging and so forth.
(v) (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers later.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Abdul Hamid Mohd Yusof.
