أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
Assalamu alaikum w. w. Dear Quran lovers,
Let us continue with the Rules of Tajwid:
(13) مد لازم حرفى = Madd Lazim H*arfi = Irrevocable letter Madd: In the Quran, there are 14 letters found in the beginning of a surah and they, the letters are to be pronounced individually. They are: ا, ح, ر, س, ص, ط, ع, ق, ك, ل, م, ن, هـ, ي.
Among these 14 letters, the letter Alif, ا , is not a Madd (it is spelt, الف , without a Madd), thus it is not a Madd Lazim Harfi letter.
There are other 5 letters which are also not Madd Lazim Harfi letters viz: ح, ر, ط, هـ and ي , but they of Madd T*obi`i = Normal Madd because they are all spelt with 2 letters e.g. ر = Ro, and they are to be pronounced to the length of 2 harakah, e.g. يس = Ya~si~~~n. Madd Lazim Harfi = Irrevocable Letter Madd has 2 Rules: (a) مد لازم حرفى مثقل = Light (2) مخفف = Heavy.
مد لازم حرفى مثقل = Madd Lazim Harfi Muthaqqol = Light Letter = to pronounce its letters individually to the length of 6 harakah. The letters are : ل and س and after these Lam or Sin must be a letter م. The Lam or the Sin must be assimilated/idghom into the letter Mim and with a humming sound of the nasal to the length of 2 harakah, e.g. الم = Alif La~~~m~mi~~m. (ii) طسم = T*o~si~~~m~mi~~m.
(b) مد لازم حرفى مخفف = Madd Lazim Harfi Mukhoffaf = Heavy letter: to pronounce its letters individually to the length of 6 harakah, and each letter stands by itself. The letters are: س, ص, ع, ق, ك, ل, م, ن, e.g ن = Nu~~~n, ق = Qo~~~f, ص = SHo~~~d, م in الم = Alif La~~~m~mi~~~m, م and ص in المص = Alif La~~~m~mi~~~m-SHo~~~d, م in المر Alif La~~~m~mi~~~m -ro, and so forth.
Until we meet again. See you all soon. Wassalamu alaikum w. w.
