Recitation 340

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
We should bear in mind that verses 189 to 202 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh are about Mecca and Hajj. In verses 190 till 194 are for the Prophet s.a.w. and the Muslimin to fight and kill the infidels in Mecca and those verses do not concern Muslimin outside Mecca. We are not to go out and fight and kill people of other religions in our places.
Let us now continue to recite verse 194:
"Asy-SYah-ru" = The month, "al-Ha-ro~mu" = forbidden, sacred, "Bi" = for, "asy-SYah-ri" = the month, "al-Ha-ro~mi" = forbidden, sacred, "Wa" = and, "al-Hu-ru-ma~tu" =  the holiness, respected, "Qi-sho~shun" =punishment, penalty.
"Asy-SYah-rul-Ha-ro~mu Bisy-SYah-ril-Ha-ro~mi Wal-Hu-ru-ma~tu Qi-sho~~sh".  = The Forbidden/Sacred Month is for the Forbidden/Sacred Month, and (in it there is something to be) respected, the "Qishosh"/penalty (Law is carried out).
ج =  a Waqof Jaiz sign.
= "Fa" = Then, "Ma-ni" = who, "ii-ta-da~" = to overstep, attack, " 'A-lai" = upon, "Kum" = you (pl.), "Fa" = then, "ii-ta-du~" = act hostilely, counter-attack, " 'A-lai" = upon, "Hi" = him, "Bi" = by, "Mith-li" = like wise, similarly, "Ma~" = what, "ii-ta-da~" = to violate, attack, " 'A-lai" = upon, "Kum" = you (pl.).
"Fa Ma-nii-ta-da~ 'A-lai Kum Faa-ta-du~ 'A-lai Hi Bi Mith-li Maa-ta-da~ 'A-lai Kum".  = Thence, whosoever attacked you , attack him back in a similar manner he attacked you.
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
"Wa" = And, "it-ta-qu~" = fear, be obedient to, "Al-Loha" = Allah, "Wa" = and, "ii-la-mu~" = know, "An~na" = that, "Al-Loha" = Allah, "Ma-'a" = with, "al-Mut-ta-qi~na" = the devoted.
"Wat-ta-qul-Lo-ha Waa-la-mu~~ An~nal-Loha Ma-'al-Mut-ta-qi~~n".  =  Fear Allah and be obedient to Him, and know that Allah is with those who are devoted (to Him).
(Ibnu 'Abbas reported that in the month of Dzulqoidah of the 6th year of Hijrah, the Prophet s.a.w. and his followers went to Mecca to perform 'Umrah but were stopped by the Pagan Meccans from entering Mecca. The Prophet s.a.w. made camp at a place called Hudaibiyah. Then he s.a.w. sent Uthman to meet and negotiate with the Meccan chief. After a while, news reached the Prophet s.a.w. that Uthman was killed by the Meccans. The Prophet s.a.w. stood under a tree and made a pledge with his s.a.w. followers to attack the Meccans. But after a while, a news came again saying that Uthman was not killed. He was all right. Then the Prophet s.a.w. abandoned his s.a.w. intention to attack the Meccans but changed it into making a peace treaty with them which was known as the Truce of Hudaibiyah.
In the next year, the Prophet s.a.w. and his s.a.w. followers went to Mecca to perform the Hajj.  Allah s.w.t. then revealed this verse, "The Forbidden/Sacred Month is for the Forbidden/Sacred Month, and (in it there is something to be) respected, the "Qishosh"/Penalty (Law is carried out).". Imam Ahmad narrated from Jabir ibnu Abdullah said that the Prohet s.a.w. had never do battle in the Sacred Month/Dzulqoidah except when was being attacked (as a "Qishosh"/punishment). When in battle, he s.a.w. would stop fighting when in the Sacred month, and would continue fighting after the end of the Sacred month.
The verse, "Thence, whosoever attacked you, attack him/them back in a similat manner he/they attacked you" means Muslimin must be fair and just towards the infidels and are not to excedd the limits.
The verse, "And fear Allah and be obedient to Him, and know that Allah is is with those who are devoted (to Him)" means that Allah s.w.t. commanded the Muslimin to be obedient to Him s.w.t. always and that He s.w.t. is with those who are devoted to Him s.w.t. by always giving help  and support to them in this world as well as in the Hereafter).
(195) (to be continued)
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
