Assalamu alaikum w. w.,
Dear Quran Lovers,
Now, we shall recite the surah 109 Al-Ka~firu~n. Please refer to the text:
It was reported that a group of renown pagan Qureysh went to the Prophet s.a.w. to propagate their religion. They said to the Prophet s.a.w. that they would follow the teaching of the Prophet s.a.w. for a year and wanted the Prophet s.a.w. to follow theirs for a year and see which religion is better. The Prophet s.a.w. said, "A'u~dzu Bil-Lah from committing polytheism than Allah." Then the group left. In order to affirm the Prophet`s rejectio, Allah revealed the following":
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
(1) قُلْ يَآأَيُّهَااُلْكَافِرُونَ
قُلْ = Qof front with silent Lam is "Qul" (Qof is an istiilaa/the base of the tongue is raised letter) = Say
يَآأَيُّهََااُلْكَافِرُونَ = Ya above with a tiny Alif and meets with standing Hamzah above is "Ya~~" (a Madd ashli meets with standing Hamzah is a Madd Jaiz Munffashil/permissible disjoin = 5, 4 or 2, and we chose 4 harakah), standing Hamzah above and double Ya is "Ai", Ya front is "Yu", He above with silent Lam is "Hal" (an Alif lam Qomariyah/moon), Kaf above with a tiny Alif is "Ka~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Fa below is "Fi", Ro front with Waw is "Ru~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah, and Ro front is a Ro Tafkhim/emphasis), Nun above is "Na" but is paused on, a Waqof Tamm/perfect, Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun = 4 harakah is applied, is "Ru~~n". "Ya~" = O, "Ai-yu-ha" = O, "al-Ka~firu~~n" = the infidels, unbelievers. "Qul, Ya~ Ai-yu-hal-Ka~fi-ru~~n" = Say! O disbelievers
(2) لَآ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
لَآأَعْبُدُ = Lam above with Alif and meets with standing Hamzah above is "La~~" (a Madd ashli meets with standing Hamzah is a Madd Jaiz Munffashil/permissible disjoin = 4 harakah), standing Hamzah above with silent 'Ain is "Aa", Ba front is "Bu", Dal front is "Du", "La~~" = no, not, "Aa-bu-du" = I worship
مَا = Mim above with Alif is "Ma~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah) = what
تَعْبُدُونَ = Ta above with silent 'Ain is "Taa", Ba front is "Bu", Dal front with Waw is "Du~" (a Madd ashli =2 harakah), Nun above is "Na" but is paused on, a Waqof Tamm/perfect, Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun/transitory to cease = 4 harakah is applied, is "Du~~n". "Taa-bu-du~~n" = you all worship. "La~~ Aa-bu-du Ma~ Taa-bu=du~~n" = I do not worship what you all worship.
(3) وَلَآأَنْتُمْ عَبِدُونَ مَآأَعْبُدُ
وَ = Waw above is "Wa" = and
لَآأَنْتُمْ عَبِدُونَ = Lam above with Alif and meets with standing Hamzah is "La~~" (a Madd ashli meets with a standing Hamzah is a Madd Jaiz Munffashil/permissible disjoin = 4 harakah), standing Hamzah above with silent Nun and meets with Ta front is "Ant~" (نْ meets with تُ is an Ikhfaa/hiding between izhhar and idghom with a humming sound of the nasal = 2 harakah), Ta front with silent Mim and meets with 'Ain above is "Tum" (مْ meets with تُ is an Izhhar SYafawi/oral expressing clearly the مْ ), 'Ain above with a tiny Alif is " 'A~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Ba below is "Bi", Dal front with Waw is "Du~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Nun above is "Na", "La~~" = no, not, "Ant~tum"= you all, " 'A~bi-du~na" = worship
مَآأَعْبُدُ = Mim above with Alif and meets with standing Hamzah is "Ma~~" (a Madd ashli meets with standing Hamzah is a Madd Jaiz Munffashil/permissible disjoin = 4 harakah), standing Hamzah above with silent 'Ain is "Aa", Ba front is "Bu", Dal front is "Du" but is paused on, a Waqof Tamm/perfect, is "dd" (Dal is a Qolqolah letter, when paused is emphasis, "dde"). "Ma~~" what, "Aa-budd" = I worship. "Wa La~~ Ant~tum 'A~bi-du~na Ma~~ Aa-budd" = Nor you all worship what I worship.
(4) وَلَآأَنَاْ عَابِدٌمَّاعَبَدتُّمْ
وَ = Waw above is "Wa" = and
لَآأَنَاْ = Lam above with Alif and meets standing Hamzah is "La~~" (a Madd ashli meets with standing Hamzah is a Madd Jaiz Munffashil/permissible disjion = 4 harakah), standing Hamzah above is "A", Nun above with a silent sign Alif is "Na" (the اْ is Alif with SHifar Mustadir/a round tiny circle sign on either an Alif or Waw وْ or Ya ىْ denotes the letter either Alif or Waw or Ya is to be ignored, each of them is not a Madd) "La~~" = not, "A-na" = I,
عَابِدٌ مَّا = 'Ain above with Alif is " 'A~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Ba below is "Bi", Dal 2 front and double Mim above is "Dum~" (a Tanwin ٌ meets with مَ is an Idghom Maal-GHunnah/assimilation with a humming sound of the nasal = 2 harakah), Mim above with Alif is "Ma~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah) " 'Aa-bidun" = shall worship, "Ma~" = what
عَبَدتُّمْ = 'Ain above is " 'A", Ba above with Dal and double Ta is "Bat" ( a silent د meets with تُ is an Idghom Mutajanisain (إدغام متجانسين ) = Assimilating Two letters similar in their Makhraj/ phonetic but are of different in some of their characters, like letters Dal and Ta, into the next other letter), Ta front with silent Mim is "Tum". " 'A-bat-tum (not " 'Abad-tum") = you all worship. The pause is a Waqof Tamm/perfect. "Wa La~~ A-na 'A~bi-dum~Ma~ 'A-bat-tum" = And I shall not worship what you all worship.
وَلَآأَنْتُمْ عَبِدُونَ مَآأَعْبُدُ
وَ = Waw above is "Wa" = and
لَآأَنْتُمْ عَبِدُونَ Lam above with Alif and meets with standing Hamzah is "La~~" (a Madd ashli meets with standing Hamzah is a Madd Jaiz Munffashil/permissible disjoin = 4 harakah), standing Hamzah above with silent Nun and meets with Ta front is "Ant~" (نْ meets with تُ is an Ikhfaa/hiding between Izhhar and Idghom with a humming sound of the nasal = 2 harakah), Ta front with silent Mim and meets with 'Ain above is "Tum" (مْ meets with عَ is an Izhhar SYafawi/oral expressing clearly the مْ ), 'Ain above with a tiny Alif is " 'A~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Ba below is "Bi", Dal front with Waw is "Du~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Nun above is "Na", "La~~" = not, "Ant-tum" = you all, " 'A~bi-du~na" worship
مَآأَعْبُدُ = Mim above with Alif and meets with standing Hamzah is "Ma~~" (a Madd Jaiz Munffashil = 4 harakah), standing Hamzah with silent 'Ain is "Aa", Ba front is "Bu", Dal front is "Du" but is paused, a Waqof Tamm/perfect is "Budd" (Dal is a Qolqolah letter, when paused is "Budde"). "Ma~~" what, "Aa-bu-du" = I worship. "Wa La~~ Ant~tum 'Aa-bi-du-na Ma~~ Aa-budd" = Nor will you worship what I worship.
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِىَ دِينِ (6
لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَ لِىَ = Lam above is "La", Kaf front with silent Mim and meets with Dal below is "Kum" (مْ meets with دِ is an Izhhar SYafawi/oral expressing clearly the مْ ), Dal below with Ya is "Di~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Nun front is "Nu", Kaf front with silent Mim and meets with Waw front is "Kum" (an Izhhar SYafawi the مْ),
Waw above is "Wa", Lam below is "Li", Ya above is "Ya", "La Kum" = To you all, "Di~nu" = religion, "Kum" = you all, "Wa" = and "Li-ya" = to me
دِينِ = Dal below with Ya is "Di~" (a Madd ashli = 2 harakah), Nun below is "Ni" but is paused on, a Waqof Tamm/perfect, Madd 'Aridh Lis-Sukun = 4 harakah is applied, "Di~~n" = religion.
"La Kum Di-nu Kum Wa Li-ya Di~~n" = To you all is your religion and to me is my religion.
صدق الله العظيم = True were the Words of Allah the Greatest.
The Prophet s.a.w. then went to the Masjidul-Haram and coincidentally the Qureysh group was present in the Mosque. The Prophet s.a.w. stood in front of them and recited this surah loudly.
