ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
It is believed that there a few or some of us who are the beginners in performing Fast. If you cannot fast the whole day, from dawn till sunset, try to fast from dawn till a little after midday or when the time for Solat Zhuhur comes. And after a few days, after you feel comfortable, extend to Ashor which is about three and a half hours longer. Then, extend it to sunset/Maghrib. And you will be all right.
Now let us look into the Fadhilah/excellent qualitiy of some of the short surah:
(i) Reciting surah 1 Al-Fatihah once will earn us the reward of having recited Two Third of the Quran. (narrated by Abdullah ibnu Ahmad).
(ii) Reciting surah 99 Al-Zalzalah (Idza~dzul-zilat) = one half of the Quran. (narrated by At-Tirmidzi).
(iii) Reciting surah 100 Al-'A~diya~t = one half of the Quran. (narrated by Abu 'Ubaid).

(v) Reciting surah 109 Al-Ka~firu~n (Qul Ya~ Aiyuhal-Ka~firu~n) = One Quarter of the Quran. (narrated by Al-Hakim).
(vi) Reciting surah 110 An~Nashr (Idza~ Ja~~a Nasrullohi Wal-Fathu) = One Quarter of the Quran (narrated by At-Tirmidzi).
(vii) Reciting surah 112 Al-Ikhlash (Qul Huwal-Lohu Ahad) = One Third of the Quran.  (b) If recited Ten times = Allah will furnish us with a palace in the Paradise.  (c) If recited more than Ten times, Allah will furnish more and better rewards. (narrated by Ahmad).
(viii) Reciting surah 113 Al-Falaq (Qul A'udzubi Robbil-Falaq) and surah 114 An~Na~s (Qul A'udzubi Robbin~Na~s) Three times each will earn us the best Protection from all disasters.
(ix) Reciting verse 255 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, (Ayat Kursi) after Solat, there is nothing to stop us from entering  the Paradise (narrated by An-Nasai and At-Tibroni). (b) We shall be in the Protection of Allah until the next Solat (narrated by At-Tibroni). (c) If the Ayat Kursi is recited in a house which there is a Satan in it, It will drive the Satan away from the house. (narrated by At-Tirmidzi).
(x) Reciting the Epiloge of surah 2 al-Baqoroh , verses 284, 285 and 286 at night, will protect us and our homes from the Satan, misfortune and danger. (narrated by Abu Daud).
NOTE: All the above mentioned surah and verses had been discussed in the previous sessions.
                                      oooo000oooo
Let us now continue to look into the things that are permissible during fast:
(viii) People who fast are allowed to eat, drink and have sex from sunset/Maghrib until dawn/Shubuh the next morning. When dawn has begun, and food is still in his/her mouth, he/she must spit it out. Or if the man and the wife are having sex, when the dawn has begun, they must stop doing it. If he/she swallowed the food or continue to have sex, then, their fast is spoilt, but they must act as if they were fasting/they cannot eat nor drink and so forth on that day, and they will have to Qodoo/fast on other day after the month of Ramadan to make up for that day. (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
(ix) During Shubuh, people who fast but are in the Janabah/major defilement is permissible (narrated by Bukhori and Muslim).
(x) Ladies with menses or with post natal bleeding, if their bleeding stop at night, they can have their ablution at dawn/Shubuh.They must fast, and have their ablution to perform Solat Shubuh.
