أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
ألسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to look into the things that spoil the Fast:
(v) To eat thing/s that is/are not usual as ordinary food, such as salt or others in large quantity.
(vi) To resolve in one's heart the intention of terminating the Fast.
(vii) Eating, drinking or having sex because one thought that the sun has set/Maghrib or that the dawn/Shubuh has not begun.
(viii) To be unsound mind during the day.
These are the eight things which spoil the Fast, and it needs only to be Qodhoo/make up for the spoilt on other day/s after the month of Ramadan.
(b) The Thing That Spoils The Fast Which Requires To Be Qodhoo And Also Kaffaro/fine:
(i) Having sex during Fast in the month of Ramadan. The Fast is spoilt and it needs to be Qodhoo and the husband, but not the wife, has to pay a Kaffaro/fine. There are three ways to pay the fine, (a) to free a slave, or (b) to fast for two months (after the month of Ramadan) continuosly/non-stop, (if he is unable to do so), or (c) to feed Sixty poor people with repleting/filled food, 3/4 litre each.
Abu Huroiroh said, "A man came to the Prophet s.a.w. saying, "Woe on me, O Prophet of Allah". The Prophet s.a.w. asked, "Why?". The man said, "I had sex with my wife during day time in the month of Ramadan". The Prophet s.a.w. asked, "Do you have anything to free a slave?". The man said, "No". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Can you fast for two months continuously?" The man said, "No.". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Do you have any food to be given to sixty poor people?". The man said, "No".
Then the man sat. (The Prophet s.a.w. left). Then after a few moment, the Prophet s.a.w. came back with a large basket full of date and said to the man, "Take this basket of date and distribute them to the poor people". The man said, "To disribute them/the date fruits to the poor? Really, there is no poor people in this area who is poorer than us". The Prophet laughted unsoundedly till his molar (tooth) was visible, said, "Go! Give these to your family". (narrated by Jama'ah).
[This is Islam. A sinner who should be punished/fine for his sin, but in the end, was awarded with the fine he should have paid.
One of my Fiqh ustaz/teachers told us that during Fasting in the month of Ramadan, if you wanted to have sex, break your Fast first, eat something or drink, then have sex, and you are not obligated to pay fine but you have to Qodhoo for eating or drinking].
ZAKAT/poor-dues or alms tax: (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.
والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
