Recitation 369.1

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite the final phase of verse 222 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, synopsis of Islam. Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(222) وَلَا تَقْرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّى يَطْهُرْنَ = "Wa La~ Taqq-ro-bu~ Hun~na Hat-ta~ Yat-hurrn".  = "Wa" = And, But, "La" = do not, "Taqq-ro-bu~" = you (pl.) approach, "Hun~na" = them (f.), "Hat-ta~" = until, "Yat-hurr-na" = they clean themselves.
"Wa La~ Taqq-ro-bu~ Hun~na Hat-ta~ Yat-hurrn". = But do not ever approach them (f.) before they clean themselves.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
= "Fa" = Then, "I-dza~" = if, "Ta-toh-harr-na" = they (f.) clean themselves (f.), "Fa" = then, "u-tu~" = give, mix/have sex with, "Hun~na" = them (f.), "Min" = at, "Hai-thu" = where, "A-ma-ro" = instruct, "Kum" = you (pl.), "Al-Lohu" = Allah.
"Fa I-dza~ Ta-toh-harr-na Faa-tu~ Hun~na Min Hai-thu A-ma-ro Ku-mul-Lo~h". = When they are clean, then mix/have sex with them at the place instructed by Allah to you (pl.).
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
إِنَّ اُللهَ يُحِبُّ اُلتَّوَّبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ اُلْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ = "In~nal-Loha Yu-hib-but-Taw-wa~bi~na Wa Yu-hib-bul-Mu-ta-toh-hi-ri~~n".  =  "In~na" = Truly, "Al-Loha" = Allah, "Yu-hib-bu" = He Love, "at-Taw-wa~bi~na" = those who repent, "Wa" = and, "Yu-hib-bu" = He Love, "al-Mu-ta-toh-hi-ri~na" = the pure.
"In~nal-Loha Yu-hib-but-Taw-wa~bi~na Wa Yu-hib-bul- Mu-ta-toh-hi-ri~~n". =  Truly, Allah Love those who repent and Love those who are clean and pure.
(When the companions r.a. asked the Prophet s.a.w. about the "Haidh"/menses, Allah revealed this verse, " And they asked you (O Muhammad) about the Menses, say, "It is a defilement/filth, so, you should stay away from the women when they have their menses and do not ever approach them before they are clean". Then the Prophet s.a.w. added, "Do whatever thing you like to them except joining/uniting bodies".
When the Jews heard about the above mentioned verse and the Hadith, they said, "This man (Muhammad s.a.w.) has never overlooked any of our affairs without opposing and contradicting them". Thence, Usaid ibnu Hudhair and 'Abbad ibnu Bisyr went to the Prophet s.a.w. and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the Jews had said this and that, why do we not just copulate/unite in sexual intercourse with our wives?". The Prophet 's s.a.w. turned in anger. Seeing that, they both took leave and left. Then someone came to the Prophet s.a.w. with a present, milk. The Prophet s.a.w. then sent words that Usaid ibnu Hudhair and 'Abbad ibnu Bisyr to come to the Prophet s.a.w. and they both were given milk to drink. Thus, both of them knew that the Prophet s.a.w. was angry with them no more.
The verse, " So you should stay away from the women when they have their menses" means, we, Mankind should stay away from their/the wives's sexual organs only, and this is based on the Hadith, the Prophet s.a.w. said, "Do whatever thing you like (to them) except "Nikah"/copulation".
[This is not Sexiology, but it is one of the Syariah/Islamic Law that we Muslimin must know, so that we do not commit sin. We must know what we can do and what we cannot do when our wives are having menses. This also applies when our wives are in their Post-natal bleeding].

Recitation 369

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, synopsis of Islam. Please refer to the text:
Wa Yas-a-lu~na Ka 'A-nil-Ma-hi~dh".  = "Wa" = And, "Yas-a-lu~na" = they ask, "Ka" = you, " 'A-ni" = about, "al-Ma-hi~dhi" = the menstruation, menses,
"Wa Yas-a-lu~na Ka 'A-nil-Ma-hi~dh" = And they asked you (O Muhammad) about the menstruation.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
Qul Hu-wa A-dzan",  = "Qul" = Say, "Hu-wa" = it is, "A-dzan" = injury, evil/defilement
فَاُعْتَزِلُواْ اُلنِّسَآءَ فِى اُلْمَحِيضِ = "Faa-ta-zi-lun~Ni-sa~~a Fil-Ma-hi~~dh",  = "Fa" = then, "ii-ta-zi-lu~" = you separate, isolate, "an~Ni-sa~~a" = the women, "Fi~" = in, during, "al-Ma-hi~dhi" =  the menstruation period.
"Qul Hu-wa A-dzanf~Faa-ta-zu-lun~Ni-sa~~a Fil-Ma-hi~~dh" = Say, "It is an injury/defilement/filth, thus, you should stay away from the women when they have their menstruation/menses.
(Imam Ahmad narrated from Anas r.a. that when the Jewish women had their menses, their husbands would not want to eat nor  sleep with them, and the companions asked the Prophet s.a.w. about it. Thence, Allah revealed this verse.
Before we take a look into this verse, let us have a look at what menstruation/menses is about. According to the Anatomist, when a healthy adult woman and is not pregnant, usually has a discharge of blood from the uterus that normally occurs every four weeks between puberty and menopause. Puberty comes at about between 12 - 15 years of age in  girls, (some girls are even earlier, about 9 years old). [When a girl has attained puberty/"Baligh"/to attain womanhood/come of age, either has the first menses, or has a wet dream/dreamed of having sex and there was ejaculation of semen (which ever is first), or if there were none of these two, has attained the age of fifteen years of age, and she is " 'A~qil"/sensible/sane in mind, and is "Mumaiz"/rational/able to distinguish between good and bad (these also applied to boys, except for the menses), then the girl or the boy is a  "Mukallaf"/obligated to observe the precepts/Rules of action of religion/Islam]. And the menopause, the final cessation of the menses, occurs normally between the age of 45 and 50.
The menses occurs differently to each woman, some have profuse, some have moderate, and some have scanty discharges. Some have the discharge for 3 days or more, and some for 7 days.
The menstruation occurs when the bleeding occurs from the wall of the womb (and in Islam/Arabic and also in Malay, it is called "Rohim") because the ovum/egg/female germ cell in the womb failed to fertilize/cause to be pregnant, and the blood is discharged as menses until the womb is empty. [This menses causes discomfort to the woman. If the bleeding does not cause any discomfort, than it is not menses/Haidh, but it is "Is-ti-ha~dhoh"/ haematuria, a sickness].
When a woman is having menses or is having 'Nifas'/ post-natal bleeding, she is prohibited from performing Solat, and when she is clean, she needs not "Qodhoo"/make up for the Solat she missed, and she is also prohibited from performing the Fast, but she will have to Qodhoo/make up for the days she missed the fast on other days after Ramadan that year but before the next Ramadan arrives, (we have discussed this in the previous sessions).
(to be continued).
صلى = a Waqif Jaiz sign.

Recitation 368.2

Dear Quran Lovers,
The broadband line has just on, and it is now a quarter to Three.
Let us continue to recite the last phase of verse 221 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, synopsis of Islam. Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(221) أُوْلَئِكَ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى اُلنَّارِ = "U-la~~i-ka Yadd-'u~na I-lan~Na~~rr".  = "U-la~~i-ka" = Those, "Yadd-'u~na" = they call, invite, "I-la~" = to, "an~Na~ri" = the Hell Fire.
"U-la~~i-ka Yadd-'u~na I-lan~Na~~rr" = Those people/Polytheists/disbelievers all call/invite you to the Hell Fire.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
وَاُللهُ يَدْعُواْ~ إِلَى اُلْجَنَّةِ وَاُلْمَغْفِرَةِ بِإِذْنِهِى = "Wal-Lohu Yadd-'u~~ I-lal-Jan~na-ti Wal-Magh-fi-ro-ti Bi Idz-nih"  = "Wa" = While, "Al-Lohu" = Allah, "Yadd-'u~" = call, invite, "I-la~" = to, "al-Jan~na-ti" = the Paradise, "Wa" = and, "al-Magh-fi-ro-ti" = to forgive, "Bi" = by, "Idz-ni~" = permission, leave, "Hi~" = His.
"Wal-Lohu Yadd-'u~~ I-lal-Jan~na-ti Wal-Magh-fi-ro-ti Bi Idz-nih" = While Allah Call/Invite you to the Paradise and by His Permission, to forgiveness.
صلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
وَيُبَيِّنُ ءَايَتِهِى لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ  = "Wa Yu-bai-yi-nu A~ya~ti Hi~ Lin~Na~si La-'al-la Hum Ya-ta-dzak-ka-ru~~n".  = "Wa" = And, "Yu-bai-yi-nu" = he explains, "A~ya~ti" = verses/ commandments, "Hi~" = His, "Li~" = to, "an~Na~si" = the Mankind, "La-'al-la" = so that, "Hum" = they, "Ya-ta-dzak-ka-ru~na" = they give thought/bear in mind.
"Wa Yu-bai-yi-nu A~ya~ti Hi~ Lin~Na~si La-'al-la Hum Ya-ta-dzak-ka-ru~~n". = He Explain His verses/commandments to Mankind so that they would give thought/bear in mind.
(The verse, "They/the Polytheists all call/invite you to the Hell Fire", means marrying the Polytheists/disbelievers will only arouse your love for this world and its brief transitory comforts and luxuries and prefering this short life in the world than that of the eternal Hereafter. [ and our descendants will be disbelievers, unless Allah s.w.t. Give Mercy to them and Guide them to the straight path. I have met some of these people, their grandfather was a Muslim, he married a non-Muslim, and they, the grandchildren, were/are (?) without any religion]. They will surely end in the Hell Fire.
The verse, "While Allah Call/Invite you to the Paradise and by His Permission, to forgiveness. He Explain His verses/commandments to Mankind so that they would give thought/bear in mind" means He/Allah s.w.t. had provided us with His Syariat Law, Commandment, and Prohibition so that we will bear them in mind and carry them out that we will enter the Paradise and be forgiven by Allah s.w.t. for all of our sin.).
(222) (to be continued).
Until we meet again in the next session, see you all Quran Lovers soon.

Recitation 368.1

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to look into the explanation of the first phase of verse 221 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, the synopsis of Islam:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(221)The verse, "And certainly female-slave-Believer is better than Feminine-disbelievers even if she pleased you": As-Suddi said, "This verse was revealed because Abdullah bin Rawahah who had a black female-slave. (The Muslimin had slave/s when they fought the infidels and had captured their families. The family members of the infidels captured were made slaves. The slaves were not ill-treated but they were treated like their own kins. And they mingled with the slaves freely,  like that of their brothers and sisters). One day, Abdullah bin Rawahah became angry and had slapped his female-slave, then he was in fear for having slapped her, and went to the Prophet s.a.w. and told the Prophet s.a.w. what he had done to the slave-girl. The Prophet s.a.w. asked, "How is the girl?". Abdullah answered, "She fasts, performs Solat, and takes ablutions nicely, and she had confessed that there is no true "Ilah"/deity but Allah and you (O Muhammad) is His Messenger". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "O Abu 'Abdullah, she is a Muuminah/ Believer". 'Abdullah bin Rawahah  said, "By Allah who had sent you with the Truth, I will free her and will marry her". Then he went home, freed the black female-slave and then married her. Thence, many people among the Muslimin condemned his action by saying, "Why does he had to marry his own slave?". They/those who condemned, themselves and their children had married the Disbelievers because they wanted to gain the glory and of the high respect of their/ Disbelievers' ancestors. Thence Allah s.w.t. revealed this verse: "Marrying slaves is better than marrying Disbelievers even if they pleased you".
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
= "Wa" = And, "La" = certainly, " 'Abb-dun" = slave, bondservant, "KHoi-run" = is better, "Min" = from, "Musy-ri-kin" = Polytheist/disbeliever, "Wa-law" = even if, "Aa-ja-ba" = he pleases, "Kum" = you (pl.).
"Wa La 'Abb-dum~Muu-mi-nun KHoi-rum~Mim~Musy-ri-kiw~Wa-law Aa-ja-ba Kum".  = And certainly male-slave/bondservant is better than Polytheist/disbeliever even if he pleased you (pl.).

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite surah 2 Al-Baqoroh, synopsis of Islam. Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

"Wa La~ Tank~ki-hul-Musy-ri-ka~ti Hat-ta~ Yuu-min~n". = And do not marry feminine disbelievers until they believe/have Faith.
ج = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
= "Wa" = And, "La" = certainly, "A-ma-tun" = a female slave, "Muu-mi-na-tun" = a believer, "KHoi-run" = is better, "Min" = than, "Musy-ri-ka-tin" = a polytheist/disbeliever in Allah, "Wa-law" = even if", "Aa-ja-bat" = she pleases, "Kum" = you (pl.).
"Wa La A-ma-tum~Muu-mi-na-tun KHoi-rum~Mim~Musy-ri-ka-tiw~Wa-law Aa-ja-bat Kum" = And certainly, a female slave believer is better than a feminine polytheist/disbeliever in Allah even if she pleases you.
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
= "Wa" = And, "La~" = do not, "Tank~ki-hu~" = you (pl.) marry, "al-Musy-ri-ki~na" = the polytheists, "Hat-ta~" = until, "Yuu-mi-nu~" = they believe/have Faith.
"Wa La~ Tank~ki-hul-Musy-ri-ki~na Hat-ta~  Yuu-mi-nu~". = And do not ever marry disbelievers until they believe/have Faith.
(This verse is a Commandment that we, Believers cannot and must not marry the Polytheists/people who believe in many gods, and/or in idols. Those believe in Trinity, are considered as Polytheists. But in verse 5, surah 5 Al-Maidah, Allah s.w.t. Say, "(It is lawful to you) the virtuous women/girls of the Believers and the virtuous women/girls of those who received the Scriptures before you when you have given them their dowries (in Islam, it the man/bridegroom who gives money, property and so forth to the bride when he marries her, and not the other way round) with the intent of marrying them, not with the intent of committing adultery nor to take them as concubines/ mistresses.".
This verse, "And do not ever marry feminine disbelievers until they believe/have Faith", Ali bin Abi Tolhah narrated from Ibnu 'Abbas that in this case, Allah Have exempted the Faminine People of the Scriptures. But Abu Jaafar ibnu Jarir said, "Umar (ibnu Al-Khottob) forbade  (Muslimin from marrying the Feminine People of the Scriptures) so that Muslimin do not leave/ignor the Muslimah/ Feminine Believers".
Bukhori narrated that Ibnu 'Umar said, "I do not know of any greater "Syirik"/polytheist/to ascribe partners to Allah than a woman who confessed that Jesus as her Lord". [Do we not agree?].

Dear Quran Lovers,
It has been Two days that I saw in the TV news that there is a fire in California, USA. I had recited verses and Doa that the fire be extinguished, but it seems that the fire is still raging on. Let us give the firemen a hand by reciting surah Yasin and Its Doa so that Allah will have the raging fire be extinguished. Thank you.

"In~nal-Loha 'A-zi~zun Ha-Ki~~m" =  because Allah is Most Powerful, Most Wise.
(Ibnu Jarir narrated from Ibnu 'Abbas who said, "When the verse No. 152 of surah 6 Al-An'am, "Do not go near the wealth of the orphans unless by which is better", and the verse 10 of surah 4 An-Nisaa, "Truly those who devour the wealth of the orphans wrongfully, are actually swallowing fire into their bellies", those people who were taking care of orphans, separated their food and drink fron the food and drink of the orphans who were under their care. And they separated a part of their food and kept it for the orphans until they/the orphans ate it or the food became bad. That had caused difficulties to them/guardians. So, they reported it to the Prophet s.a.w. And Allah s.w.t. revealed this verse that "the guardians should manage the affairs of the orphans nicely, and if they mingled with the orphans, they were/are their kins". Thence, the guardians mixed their food and drink with the orphans'.
The verse, "and Allah Know who are corrupt/wicked and who make peace (with them)" means that Allah s.w.t. Know those with the intent of making evil to the orphans, and He s.w.t. also Know those with good intent to the orphans.
The verse, "And if Allah so Desired, He would cause hardship to fall on you, because Allah is Most Powerful Most Wise" means that if Allah so Wished,  He s.w.t. would make things difficult and hard for you who are with wicked intent, but He s.w.t. still Make things easy and light for you so that you can manage them/the orphans nicely).

Dear Quran Lovers,
Let us continue to recite verse 219 of surah 2 Al-Baqoroh. Please refer to the text:
أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
(219) وَيَسْئَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفٍقُونَ قُلِ اُلْعَفْوَ = "Wa Yas-a-lu~na Ka Ma~dza~ Yunf~fi-qu~na Qu-lil-'Afw".  = "Wa" = And, "Yas-a-lu~na" = they ask, "Ka" = you, "Ma~dza~" = what is, "Yunf~fi-qu~na" = to provide for support, "Qu-li" = say, "al-'Af-wa" = the surplus.
"Wa Yas-a-lu~na Ka Ma~dza~ Yunf~fi-qu~na Qu-lil-'Afw". = And they asked you (O Muhammad) what should they provide for support? Say (O Muhammad), "The surplus of your daily needs (for you and your family).
قلى = a Waqof Jaiz sign.
كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اُللهُ لَكُمُ اُلْأَيَتِ = "Ka-dza~li-ka Yu-bai-yi-nul-Lohu La Ku-mul-A~ya~ti", = "Ka-dza~li-ka" = Such, "Yu-bai-yi-nu" = He made plain, "Al-Lohu" = Allah, "La" = for, "Kum" = you (pl.), "al-A~ya~ti" = the signs/explanations,
La-'al-la Kum Ta-ta-fak-ka-ru~~n".  = "La-'al-la" = so that, "Kum" = you (pl.), "Ta-ta-fak-ka-ru~na" = you give thought.
"Ka-dza~li-ka Yu-bai-yi-nul-Lohu La Ku-mul-A~ya~ti La-'al-la Kum Ta-ta-fak-ka-ru~~n".  = Such is what Allah had made plain His explanation to you (pl.), so that you may give thought.
(Abi Hatim told his children that Mu'adz bin Jabal and Thaa-labah had gone to the Prophet s.a.w. and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have some young slaves and relatives, how are we to provide our wealth?". Thus, Allah s.w.t. revealed this verse, "And they asked you what should they provide for support (their slaves and relatives), say (O Muhammad), "The surplus of your daily need (for yourself and your family's).
Al-Hasan narrated from Abd ibnu Humaid in his explanation, said that we should not give away all of our wealth for charity, then we sit and beg people for money".
A Hadith reported by Ibnu Jarr from Abu Huroiroh r.a. who said, "A man said to the Prophet s.a.w., "O Messenger of Allah, I have One Dinar". The Prophet s.a.w. said, " Provide it for yourself".  The man again said, "I still have another Dinar". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Provide it for your relatives". The man again said, "And I still have another Dina". The Prophet s.a.w. said, "Then provide it for you children". The man said, "And I still have another Dinar". The Prophet s.a.w. replied, "Then you know better (to whom you should provide)".  (This Hadith is also narrated by Imam Muslim).
The verse, "Such is what Allah had made plain His explanation to you so that you may give thought" means that Allah s.w.t. had provided us with His explanations in details, His s.w.t. Rules and Regulations, and His s.w.t. promise, and His s.w.t. warning that we, Muslimin may give thought about them and about what will happen to us in this world and in the Hereafter. But we all must give the life in the Hereafter preference over the life in this world which is just a place for stop in and a testing place for all of us.).

Let us look into a lengthy Hadith reported by Abu Damroh, (I have abridged it), "A messenger from Rabi'ah tribe came to the Prophet s.a.w. asking for a clear Commandment that he could bring home to his people so that they would enter the Paradise. The Prophet s.a.w. asked them to perform Four things, (i) To believe/have Faith in Allah the One and Only God. The Prophet s.a.w. asked them: "Do you  know what is having Faith in One and Only God?" They replied, "Only Allah and His Messenger knew". The Prophet s.a.w. explained that: "they must believe and acknowledge that there is no other God (to be worshipped) than Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah". Then the Prophet s.a.w. asked them "to perform Solat (Five times in a day and a night), and to pay the Zakat/ poor-dues, and to fast during the month of Ramadan, and to give One-fifth of the spoils of war. The Prophet s.a.w. also forbad them from killing, consuming alcoholic liquor, and preparing/ making alcoholic liquor". (narrated by Bukhori).
